planning on buying some bolt on pipes for my new busa in the next couple of days. i'm pretty set on yoshimura, but i'm stuck on the difference between the TRS and the RS-3. the discription on yoshimura's website doesn't tell me much about the difference between the two so i was hoping someone here had some experience with these pipes.

they're both the same price and as far as i can tell the only difference is the look.

TIA

Wellcome SD .. the trs offers more ground clearance 'cos of the shape .. pretty much the same otherwise .. Most here go for a full system unless its just looks you're after ? Do a search for exhausts it's located up top beside the busa flag , it has coloured swirleys..

thanks man. i started with the seach but found nothing pertaining to just these two pipes so i took the easy way out.

a full system is a little much for the wifie aprove, so i'm going bolt-ons and a pcIII to start out with. it's really the look and the sound that i'm after, not the performance(although that's a hell of a side effect

).

I was considering putting a Yosh on my bike, however, after doing a little research...The Yosh RS-3 are a little to quiet. I am considering getting Micorn bolt-ons. They sound a lot better than Yoshs.

you are a fool you say your wifem won't approve of the $$$ for a full system. hell 550.00 for a full system is cheaper than those P.O.S.

Got a question for you JC. If you get a full system...won't you have to get a power commander? That is what I am wresting with now. I can afford one thing that is the exhaust. I can't afford the exhaust and the PC. Please advice me.
Thanks,
D-

wow, what an a-hole...

didn't know i could get a full system for cheaper than the yoshis. thanks for being so nice about it.

i read a lot of posts last night and was really impressed on how helpfull everyone was to one another. johnny pretty much pissed all over that idea...

i'm willing to bet the muzzy pipe is for one side. one of the things that attracted me to the hayabusa is the dual pipes and i'm not going to change them.

thanks for the warm welcome johnny...

hey sdbusa dont let em bother you..
welcome, i am pretty new here to but like it so far anyway there are only a few full systems that have duel pipes infact the only one i know of is the HMF otherwise all the other companies only make duel bolt on.
somone correct me if i am wrong

$825.00 is pretty steep for slipon's....hell when I was looking at Micron they wanted $915 for slipon's <---Retail. Yah a better deal can be had, but if your gonna spend that sorta $$$ go for the full exhaust.

If ya look around on the web, you can find full exhaust systems, and get a pcIII for about the same price as the yosh slipon's. I spent less than $1000.00 for a New full Micron race exhaust, and pcbIIIusb with a damn good cheese map, shipping included. My bike runs smoother than stock, and I won't know until I got in for dyno time, but with the Micron and pcIII Im guessing about a 10 to 14 hp gain. plus you can pickup some free hp by doing airbox mod, and pair valve removal/ block-off, and you will get even more hp with the full exhaust. And the slipon's all your really getting is some better sound and I wouldnt consider the airbox mod without full exhaust.

I can see the slip on's being an easy way to get better sound, and if thats all your after I completely understand. And I think Johnnycheese was just putting it bluntly, that you can do so much more for your bike with the same amount of cash.

So to sum it up, and correct me if Im wrong - your $825 ( than add shipping) will get you down the raod 2 different ways.

OPTION 1 : Yosh Slip on's
Benefit - Better sound
- Easy to instal
- hp gain of possibly 1 to 3 hp
- pair mod = free HP & weight saving

OPTION 2 : Full Exhaust & pcIII
Benefit - 10 to 14+ hp gain depending on system
- Better torque
- Smoother powerband
- able to do airbox mod for free HP
- pair mod = free HP & weight saving
- Better sound
- Reduced weight
- Better clearance
- able to custom map for your bike

Im sure both systems have their benefits, but my $$$ recently went for OPTION 2, and I can't believe the difference, and I am completely satisfied for under $1000.00 . Good Luck, on what ever option you take. And post some pics when you get whatever you buy on the bike!

SD,
I'm betting that price is MSRP for the Yoshimura. You should be able to find them for a lot less. I bought my 05 with them already on and kinda like the way they look/sound. I didn't want anything too loud and the rs-3 give it a nice throaty sound at lower rpm. I'm happy with them.
BTW Welcome.

SDBusa, The cheeseman may not come off warm and fuzzy, but he is the man when it comes to exhaust/power commanders.

All slip-ons/bolt-ons due is give you sound and looks. There's no way I'd spend money on slip/bolt-ons, especially more than $300.  All that is going to happen is within a couple years you'll be dying to upgrade to a full system.  Now you'll never be able to sell them for what you bought them for.

My advice, if you're set on bolt/slip-ons.  Buy them used via this website or E-Bay.  Don't buy new.

But better yet, buy a full system and be happier.

BTW- you don't need a pc3 for bolt/slip-ons.  Don't spend $250-310 on a pc3, especially if money's is tight with the wife.

thanks for all your help and input about my exhaust needs. i totally hear what you guys are saying about certain full systems being the same price or cheaper than my bolt-ons. i also realize that the full systems give more of a power gain. i'm also willing to admit i might be upgrading to the full system after a year or two. that being said, i'm still going for the bolt on TRS's for now. the power of this bike still scares me so i'm not really looking for a power gain. i want the look and the sound of the yoshi's.

i promise to post when i'm kicking myself for buying these, but i don't believe that will happen for a good long while.

i'll post pictures when they get here. i think dual tri-angle cf pipes will look phat!

btw, i'm not paying the $800+ from the yoshi site, just thought that would be the best site to link you guys to.
