Your Mileage Will Vary....

Just curious about what kind of miles folks are putting on. I've got an '06 which I bought new in September of that year when my old big bore 1100 blew up (a story for another day). I hit 70,000 miles in December before I parked it for the winter. I change oil religiously, and the valves get checked every other year (and have never needed adjustment) I've lost track of tires, chains and sprockets- but there have been a few.

I'm more of a sportrider then a shredder, so it hasn't been bounced off the tach every ride like many bikes are, but this has been easily the most reliable bike I've owned, and I've owned quite a few.

After being in the drag bike scene for the last 12 years with Kawasaki ZRX platforms , and seeing busas live after pure abuse is why I chose one .
Easy to service compared to all others in the field . When they stay stock or close to it they just keep going . Then when you throw power on them its even more surprising how many passes one can get out of a motor .

bought my 06 new and after 10 years now i got 55k miles. wile i have done a lot of motor work i will say that the valves have always been within speck. never needed shimmed. when i did the 1397 kit i had aobut 42k or so on it and when we broke it down the upper and lower bearings barely showed any wear. replaced anyway of course. the only issue i have ever had from the stock side of things is having to replace the fork orings 2 times. the first time it wasnt even a year old. that bugged me but honestly that was it. oh and i found an article from consumer reports that rated motorcycle reliability and the top spot was yamaha followed by suzuki then honda and then kawasaki. id say thats not to bad at all

Well. I bounce this girl off the rev limiter every day and after 8 years and 72K miles she runs fine. Never had a wrench on her. Well I did relace the fuel pump because of the filter and it looks like I might have to do that again if a Gen III isn't released this year :)
