Busa for Lighter Rider?

OK, I weigh 160 give or take, and will some day own a Busa.
I just talked to a suspension specialist and he told me that the Busa, off the showroom floor, is sprung for someone well over 200 lbs.
He further told me that even at the lowest spring settings, the bike won't handle well for my weight.
So I said to him "you mean right after I buy the bike I have to buy lighter range springs too?"
He said yes!
Any commennts, feedback?

170 lbs here and I dont seem to have a problem.

Then again I dont drag a knee either.

I've always heard that the magic "average" rider weight used for stock setup is about 165. Don't know for a fact what factory's use, but if it's 165, you'd be just about ideal.

I am 160 with more on the give side than the take side and don't seem to have any problems laying her over....

I just read my post, and in anything but a motorcycle forum that would just be :poke: wrong.

The big guys have the trouble, 160 / 165 you're gonna have a great advantage over the 250 / 350 crowd

PS don't buy any suspension parts. Are you getting a first generation 99-07 or second generation ? The second generation does have better fork springs, but that should not be a problem for you...

I would think that it would be just about right for ya.

i'm about the same weight as u, approximately 170 and just got my 08 busa about 2 months ago. I have no problems with the suspension, other than being a bit stiff at times when i hit small bumps, but i'm sure every sport bike is that way, that's why their called "sport bikes" and not cruisers. My 04 750 i traded in felt exactly the same in the suspension

i call BS with the suspension specialist. if u cant hold the busa off the kick stand, u better hit mcdonalds or bk

I'm 155 have a gen II with no problems, i was told that the bikes were set up for someone 165lbs. ???

I'm 165 and the stock settings work very well for me! In fact, my bike is all stock, right down to those huge ugly cans and I don't know too many riders I can't keep the pace with, no matter what they ride.
Don't worry about screwin' with the settings until you give the stock settings a chance to prove me right!

I have been hearing that factory suspension was set for 160-165 lbs. I am 240 and the front seems too soft and nose dives when breaking.
