Busa for Lighter Rider?

Yes the stock settings suck for any weight. just carry a screw driver with you. With your weight back the rebound screw off about 8 to 10 clicks in the back that will take the stiffness out of it. The front go two clicks up on the front to start and you should be pretty close. This will get you in the ball park and just go a click up or down in the back or front untill you get it right. I am a carpenter and figured that one out. Now if you are a pro racer then yes have a pro tune your new suspension parts.

All I can say is, You did the right thing by asking the people here rather than take that guy's word for it. I'm about 175 and don't have a problem. Go get one and try it. Get back to us and let us know how it goes.

Remember, full gear adds about 10lbs. These bikes are made for Japanese and Europeans who are far smaller than us fat Americans. BTW, I go about 180.

don't think you'll have any problems but I got bout 80lbs on ya too. You should be fine buy the busa you won't regret it

Gen 1 busa has .85 spring in front. That is fine if most of your ride is straight. Change to .95 if you wanna do serious twisties.

Me thinks the Suspension "expert" may have been smoking something funny. 165 here and I take any road almost as well as with my former Gixxer 750.

Thanks for the input guys.
Here's a very close second question:
When I bought my 06 GIXXER 750, it was the best handling bike I'd ever ridden. I took it to my local motorcycle whiz and asked him to set it up for my specific weight which he did with me on the bike.
Afterwards, the bike handled even better and I was amazed at how just a few tweaks here and there completely changed the handling for the better.
He did the whole thing by measuring sag, and looking for settling of the rebound on the first return. And, he only charged me $35!
I plan on using his services again when I buy the Busa.
OK, here's the question, have any of you lighter guys ridden the bike stock, then gone to some knowledgeable suspension tuner for a tweak?
Comments?

At 225 lbs the stock setup seemed to " Wallow " in the corners and bottom out easy in braking/bumps.
I cranked the preload down a little and seem much more "settled" now...

I am 167 & have no problem dragging a knee w/ the stock suspension. You need to talk to someone else.

OK, I weigh 160 give or take, and will some day own a Busa.
I just talked to a suspension specialist and he told me that the Busa, off the showroom floor, is sprung for someone well over 200 lbs.
He further told me that even at the lowest spring settings, the bike won't handle well for my weight.
So I said to him "you mean right after I buy the bike I have to buy lighter range springs too?"
He said yes!
Any commennts, feedback?
Lenny

Lenny,
This guy is full of sheep dip, if anything your bike will handle better because of the weight differential to your 'bigger' brothers, mass and interia. I can't tell you how many times I have had skinny little f**kers leave me in the dust like I was tied to a fence post or going the other way!

Agreed...it's always fascinated me how much riders will spend to make their bikes a few pounds lighter when the best and cheapest thing would be to simply put the fork down before the plate is cleared!
