Ok! I just bought a kit to extend my swingarm on my 08. Is there a rule saying that I have to lower my bike once I install the swingarm extension? What would happened if I don't lower the bike. If I do have to lower it can you please post pictures of what I need to buy. The picture at the bottom is the one I have. Thanks!!

hey, corey I dont believe theres a rule that says" you have to lower the back end. however, most folks do for the "look" other wise your azz end is pointing up and just not too sexy lookin. However, some folks say that it will affect your turning radius. maybe someone with more technical knowledge will chime in.... but they did mention something about changeing the suspension when doing this maybe preload???.....theres a thread in one of the other areas titled " show me your swingarm extensions" or something like that....good luck....remember:rulez: pix are nice when you get done

Just stretched mine a while back, and as stated, If you want to keep that azz end from sticking up you will want to lower it 1" Just get some lowering links.

Don't buy cheap lowering links. Those two little pieces of aluminum are the only thing that keeps the rear of the bike up and if they were to fail.....

Brock's or Soupys make great Adjustable links. Adjust it exactly to your needs without going to the trouble when you originally installed them. Unlike the 3 hole links. Prob have to tighten up the spring on the shock too.

Good luck and don't forget the Pics! :rulez8bn:

Soupys or brocks adjustable lower linke...not to slam lower it, unless thats what you want. But use them to lower it back to stock hight. A 4 inch extention may raise the bike 1-1/2 to 2 inches ( guessing ). And def stiffent the suspension. Its all about geometry. Its a hinged arm that will now be longer back from the axis point. The spring is close to that axis point and will now seem soft. Im deff NO math wizard but I think Ive made a point.

Here's what a bike looks like extended 6-7" with factory links. I want to bring the rear back down to stock height so, I'll be ordering a pair of Soupy's links soon.
