I have an 06 busa with airbox mod, powercommander with professional map, HMF big bird 4-2-1 exhaust, and K&N air filter. Pulled 178.74hp and 106.14lbs of torque at Adams performance in NC. Pulled 177.1hp at a dealership on dyno day. What you guys think? Some say good for no motor work and some are not so good. Put it in a dyno trailer at a bike night bat it said 168hp i know thats not close. So give me some imput please!!

My mods are similar to yours on my '06, air box mod, BMC Race, PCIII, Tuskgi exhaust & pair valve removed.  I got 178+ at Lee's Cycle here in San Diego, they said it was (and still is) one of the strongest running busa's they have ever seen.  You got some good numbers but I would question that 168 HP number unless you were running premium or racing gas.  I had several dyno runs done to compare various mods and two of them were to compare regular vs. premium gas....I got 5 more HP on regular than premium.

Not to sound negative about it, but why do you think the trailer was the one that was off?

What was the specs of the dynos?

Adams is well known for their work. koby is ricky gadsons crew cheif and at the time walter the dyno guy is the crew cheif of seby domingo of NLR. so i doubt their dyno is off. the trailer had no fans going into air ducts or nothing. what kind of specs u askn

DynoJet 200 205i factory Pro Using SAE or STD correction factors?

It is hard to compare different dynos but People are sometimes quick to discount a dyno that does not report back numbers that makes them feel good. And it may be the most accurate.

Look at some of the numbers GPW and Steve Smithers have been posting. I'd say their sheets represent some of the most realistic numbers out there.

it was a 250i dyno. they will be redynoing it soon they just got a new dyno about a month ago i cant remember the name what kind of #s they making. im just going on what they told me. the #s were pretty close to adams when i ran it at busa day at a dealership in charlotte.

Sounds about right. My 06 with just the Hindle (large diameter) full system, and PCIIIr with a good tune made 171 at the rear wheel. Now it's at 240.......

I'm always surprised when I see other Busa owners numbers when standard mods are added.
ie, full pipe, aftermarket air filter, pciii and a map.

Here's my frustration....
A minor rant on this subject:

I live in Las Vegas, I took my 100% stock 2005 with about 10,000 miles for a baseline dyno with a reputable shop in town.. I left with 150 rear wheel HP and 92 ft lbs torque.

Several months pass and I'm in a position to add mods.. (read my sig block for mods).. These are the standard mods most Busa owners start off with. I load the pciii map directly from the dyoject website and head back for another pull and tune.

153 rear wheel and 94ft lbs (talk about a let down)

After being a H.org member and reading all the post mod dyno numbers, I was hoping for something in the neighborhood of 162HP and 98 ft lbs.. But, not to be.

the dyno technician said the map was dead on.. He couldn't do anything else to improve the air/fuel.  He didn't even charge me.

So.. When I see 177 rear wheel HP on a GenI Busa without engine work, I can't help but question it.

Thanks for listening..

Given your dyno numbers and mods, you should try and find someone with an 08 and do a few performance runs. See how your 06 compares to the 08. That would be a good reference point. Not on the dyno, but on the street.. A couple roll ons should clear things up.

I don't know if you are familiar with Lee's and Jeremy Toye here in San Diego but I trust their dyno, their word and their work.  NayNay, tune the bike to run on 87 you will get better performance guaranteed.

It's pretty common knowledge that Lee's dyno reads high. I would say the 168 is closer to being realistic.

All that matters is that you are happy with how the bike is running.

And for the record, NO busa makes over 150rwhp STOCK...that is realistic, and NO busa will pick up 28hp from the mods you listed.

NOT calling you a liar and NOT trying to start a debate, just telling the facts.

My 2007 busa with 800 miles made similar power. Dont have a stock baseline but with hindle pipe, tre, power commander, small air box mod, bme air filter, air scoops in the fairing ( not sure that matters on the dyno ) the bike made 181.6 rwhp ( cheating using vp race gas )with a custom dyno mapping. But like everyone says dynos are like a****holes they all give a different opinion

i agree that no busa will pickup 28hp on those mods and i also agree that some dyno's read high and some read low,but your mistaken on no stock busa will have more than 150 rwhp

Just like others have said, you've got to compare apples to apples. Quoting what your bike puts out after mods on a particular dyno means absolutely nothing unless you also include the before mod number on the same dyno under the same conditions.

My bone stock bike put out aroud 152hp on what I believe to be an honest dyno. I did typical mods and went back and now then it put down about 164hp. I too was let down by some of the high numbers I've read here. But I've come to the conclusion that unless you bring your high hp bike to the same shop I dynoed at, I'd bet given similar mods, we are all within 5 hp of eachother. That said, my bike at Adams would probably make lower 170s.

Just a thought.

NOT to say that you DON'T know what you are talking about....but I am surprised that all the way back in Peoria,IL that it is common knowledge that a dyno in San Diego, CA reads high.  I will have to let Jeremy and Quinten know that their dyno is giving bad results AND that it is common knowledge...kind of outragious since Jeremy proves that his results perform on the race track and regularly finishes 1st and 2nd.  It is also interesting to note that GPW used the identical modifications and my HP results nearly matched his.  There are other posts of riders who have achieved 170+ with just exhaust, air box mods, PCIII, etc.(Fairclough Mar.15,'07 - MN72busa Jan. 04,'06).  As far as the octane rating of the gas, use the search function on this board and you will get all of the information you need...87 is the fuel to run.  As far as what a stock 'busa produces, use the search function before saying it ain't so.

Damn this is fun to watch and listen to this but i'll help ya'll out. This is Walter formerly of Adams Performance and i did the map in "NayNay's" bike. I thought from reading this that he might have lost the graph so i looked it up. Your bike made 172.74 and 102.14Ft. Lbs. of torque. This bike was a healthy one in the bunch. My dyno was actually considered low in the area (Bquinn your thinkin of Lee's in NC not Lee's in CA?) but my numbers were pretty much in line with my dyno in AZ and the dyno i'm using now in FL..
Stock bikes on my dyno's averaged 157-161 and piped, PC, box mods averaged 167-171. Not that unusual.
FYI Bquinn, stock Hayabusa's can run from 145-162hp

. I've dynoed hundreds and have seen that big of difference. If your testing correctly your not going to get 5 more HP running premium gas, 87 makes the most power and is never going to Spark knock in a stock Busa Naynay. Once a custom map is done right a street rider doesn't have any reasons to mess with it so Naynay if you messed with it a little to much

and have your map out of wack, i have it and can email you a copy so you don't have to pay again to fix what should be left alone!!
