06 Main/Rod bearings

I have a read a post that stated that some 06 busas had the wrong size bearings in them or that the cases were machined to the wrong specs. This post was from 2007 and no one ever really answered the question. It is now 09 I thought someone might have a answer by now. I have a 06 with the same issues that were listed in the post. Wasn't really concerned about the noises and vibes until I read this post. Anyone have a 06 with low end noise and knock felt in the clip ons at low rpms sometimes. If so how many miles have you put on the bike with no engine failure.

I am not new to bikes so I know about clutch, valve train, and all the other little noises these engines make. I am just concerned because the post mentioned the bearing problem a few times. Thanks

I have an 07 so I dont know! hope you find your answer giving you a bump!

I am sure if you had an issue you could probably know by now... never heard of this on the bikes but Chrysler did this kind of stuff all the time..

Never heard of that, and mine is fine.
They would do a recall, and it would be well known to all, if it was true.

There's alot of hearsay that floats around the motorcycle boards. You can't believe it all.

My '06 has a noise like knock. I have heard it since it had about 1k miles on it. It now has 20k and it still does it. I had the dealer look into it and they said that there was nothing wrong. I dont have another Busa to compare it to though.

Mine did that a bit until I turned up the idle speed.
It was too low and was hesitating a bit.

knock could be the 2 piece locker clicking inside.when do youhear noise ?at idle or riding?

If your '06 does get a knock, you'll know without a doubt. It's a very low, deep, knock and your bearings will look like this if you catch it soon enough. I read that same thread-on here, and just started listening to the bike each time I was warming it up. I must also add this right after a full season ('07)of every Wed.,& Fri. nite and every other Saturday race, late March thu Oct., making at least 7-10 passes each time I went. The only part to fail was the stock clutch. Use good oil and change it every 2500 miles and the filter every other time. The abuse these motors take is a engineering feat in it self.

Can you find and repost that thread?

Third post from the bottom of this page.

here is the other post on it.

Thanks for all the responses. Only reason this post made me worry was becuase it only does it at just off idle rpms which is when the oil pressure is the lowest. So the bearings being a little oversized could cause this problem. Other than at low rpms the engine runs strong and has no issues.

Guess I will put a oil pressure gauge on it and send the oil out to be checked out for any signs of bearing failure. Either that or just ride it till it gets worse or blows and build a big bore. Only problem is I spent all my money for the year on the bike.:banghead: Hope she holds up at least till next year.

Have an 06 also, 16k miles, mine has a bit of a Knock when its warming up and when the idle is to low, idk what the deal is but its been goin strong so far. Thanks, now im paranoid and worried:poke:
