08 pipes on an 05

Hey guys,
I'm just wrapping my head around some exhaust options and I was wondering if there was an insurmountable difference between 08+ exhaust systems and 08- systems... ie if I wanted to install yoshi r55 on my 05.

I had thought about doing some sort of custom work on Gixxer 1000 pipes but I don't know if that would be a good idea either.
Here's a photoshop of a Gixxer pipe on a busa, though I'm not sure the scale is right.

It would take some welding and reshaping of the 1K pipe to get it on there. Those pipes also have a pretty small outlet for a 1300cc engine.

There's a difference even between the Gen I head and the Gen II head as far as fitting pipes.

So I would need to put the pipes on a Gen I header, hmm very interesting. I was wondering about that vs the welding needed for the gixxer pipes. Plus those gixxer pipes are still dang heavy aren't they?
