i'm no racer but wouldn't going to the middle of nowhere and practice launching be a good idea? i told myself i would do that last summer just never got around to it... all i know i the more you practice the better you get... good luck...
world of difference between the staring line and any road anywhere in the country.. there is a lot of time and effort into prepping the track surface for the go fast crowd.. I am afraid all he is going to do is use up his bike and get no benefit..

to go fast you need power to weight ratio.. so more power, less weight or both
