1/4mile launch ?

I need the Brock clutch mod - The best I could manage was 10.946 @ 127.07. That sucks, the mph was low. I've only had the bike a month but I had expected low 10's. I weigh 230lbs but I feel it's me, not the bike. Milan is ok but I prefer Norwalk,Ohio - track is in better shape. On one run I came out @ 5500rpm - bike went sideways. I may go back next week to practice but I don't want to abuse the clutch. I met some fellow Busa riders - lowered & Apokrovic. They gave some good advice about the clutch mod and launching. I was attempting to leave at 5k so I'll try a new plan next week. I'm pissed off at myself so I'll try a new technique next week. Maybe I'll hit the 9's one day.

For the Busa - what rpm do you all usually launch at? I plan to practice @ Milan Dragway as long as the weather holds up.Are there any precautions I should take with the stock clutch? DO you all shift at redline or a little earlier? I've bounced the rev limiter 3 times with the old shift by ear technique. My ears were in tune with the Muzzy on my old ZX-11.This bike is stock, I just want to practice & baseline.

Sj,
Have you riddent at Milan at all? I'm thinking of taking my busa down there. What days are best for the track? I'm still practicing my launches. It seems like second gear blows any fast runs to hell. It is so jerky I almost feel like skipping 2nd entirely when I run.

sjbusa - I leave around 4-5k RPMs but with a stock clutch I wouldn't try to leave at over 4k maybe even a little less. (I have Brock Davidson clutch mod) Also I've even been playing around and leaving from 2-3k RPMs and it seems to work pretty good. You just have to stab the throttle and dump the clutch. FYI - I usually 60' high 1.4's to low 1.5's and I'm 230lbs!

LeeMI - Milan is a pretty good track, I would try and go on a Wednesday though. Friday night they have a CAR ONLY street race so there are always a ton of cars and the weekends it's packed. On Wednesday I can usually run 20 passes or better, on Friday-Sunday I'm lucky if I get 5. By the way last week the track was slick as hell for some reason! It seemed like every damn car out there was leaking oil or some sort of fluid. I run the new Mickey Thompson/2 and until last week I've never spun the tire once. Last week I almost spun the bike around 2-3 times trying to leave the line!

Drag,

Best 60's on stock arm I have seen is low 50's. My best 60 is a '58. Has anyone seen 1.40's with a stock arm???

Dave

I personally have not seen a stock Busa run 9's. I am sure it is very possible with a GOOD rider but I just havent seen it. I have gone a 10.10 on a stocker and a 9.85 on my Y2k with a pipe, air box and remap. 1.70 60's. I have since put the clutch mod and 42 tooth rear sprocket but now spinning and big time wheelies limit my 60' to 1.7's. Thats not even holding it to the throttle stop all of the way through 1st. I have to back out or I'll flip. Its a little harder to get a better time with the 2 up but its a lot more fun to ride and with traction and strapped front would easily be 2 tenths decrease in ET. I still leave at only about 3.5-4k rpms though.

barryg - Why in the world do you have to talk so much SH**!!!! Go play on your labusa.org and leave us alone!!! Have you seen a single post of mine that claims I have a bone stock Busa???? Hmm No A**HOLE!! I have a bone stock motor and yes my tire sits back an extra 6"...So why don't you find out what the hell your talking about before you run your damn mouth off!!! Not to mention there is another guy out at Milan who runs 1.50-1.53 60' on a stock wheelbase lowered Busa that is BONE STOCK!

You know the funniest part is you actually replied to a topic off mine that describes my bike and times 100% So know your really the idiot of the day thinking my bike is bone stock! Here is the topic by the way:

Also if you want time slips I can scan them in for you all day. Here are a couple I scanned back in May for some other smartas*:

Now put your money where your mouth is or simply shut up and go away!!!!!

sjbusa - Something sounds really wrong for some reason...If you took off like an old lady and had a 2.0 60' time your bike should still run close to 140mph! My buddies bone stock CBR900RR runs upper 120's in the quarter. Even if your ET isn't there your MPH should be. Email me and maybe we can hook up out at Milan next week. I'll try to help you out with launching, tunning, and get your ET down. I'm also 230lbs and my bike runs 10's in the 1/4 when I let off the throttle at the 1/8 mile mark. Something is really wrong!

barryg - First AS*HOLE if you learn to read it says "high 1.40's"!!! There are a few guys on this board who have seen me 60' aka Frank Adams or GSXR1390...Third and final look at Gary (Team Flint) he 60's 1.30's on his Busa!!! Crawl back under your rock bobohead!!! Or on second thought lets have a 60' contest, we'll both put up a grand and we'll take best out of 3!!!

GSXRBOY: Yesterday, strangely guy with pipe, remap, & lowered could only muster a 10 even. Other Busa rider(99 stock) was averaging low 11's, he weighs 240 & had full leathers. I think I'm losing the battle with the stock clutch. It's been a year since I practiced with the tree, my uncle felt I was leaving too late. I will review the tape & see. As long as the weather holds I can meet you next week on WED.

sjbusa - The tree hurts you in a race but it doesn't affect your ET. The stock clutch can be a pain in the A**. Try to call Mirror Image in Ypsilanti 734-547-0422, I know they had the clutch mod in stock. It only takes a couple of minutes to put in and you'll be very happy with it. I forgot the guys name but there's another guy out at Milan with a BONE STOCK lowered Busa running 9.80's, although I think he was 170-180lbs.

Hopefully we can meet up next week and see what we can get it down to...Should be running low 10's at least!

I was at Milan yesterday and I ran a 10.98 @ 129 mph,I'm catching too much air when I leave the line,I'm about 250 lbs and I wear full leathers,I'm doing the akrapovic, airbox and the clutch this weekend, plus a little dyno time,I plan to be at Milan next wed. night.

Kamikaze: I met you yesterday - you caught air 2 times and still had a better ET than I did. That tells me I need to improve my reaction time and/or my 60 ft time. I think you'll be ok if you can keep the front down.

so why dont you go over to labusa.org and post your slip so we can all look at your High 1.40's bull sh&t slip.

stock it aint, tire, s/arm, strapped, lowered, geared........am i getting close **** head

hey gsxrboy? i know i talked to you a little bit ago about going to milan.Do you think ill be able to sneak by with out the kill switch? yes i know the rules but i have been to lazy to put one on. i have full leathers and was thinkin they might not see it. i know of zx9's and stuff running without em. Im just wonderin how "good" they check.
