Can someone shed some light on how higher compression will effect your torque curve down low? Last year I was getting low to mid 1.50's for 60ft times on a regular basis,launching at 4800 to 5500 depending on the track,also just dropping the clutch. No dragging or slipping either. This year has been a total waste, I've backed down my launch control to as low as 3700 and still blow the tire off to the point of discust and haven't got a 60better than a 1.62 all year. I was blaming the rear tire but I think I'm missing a major part of the physics, also I've made no changes to the suspenion from last year except a 1/2" lower on the rear which I just did a month ago.
 
a higher ratio gives you a faster burn rate and can improve efficiency (higher BMEP) as a result your turque curve will be increased.

You could retard your timming down low so the torque isn't as high on the low end or play with cam timming to raise the torue peak to a higher rpm.
 
our dyno readings were pretty consistent on HP to Comp. ratios.. (about 2% per full point).. you can calm the thing down on the bottom end by retarding the cams a degree or 2 (will also pick up the top end normally)

I personally take the view that if I am blowing the tire off, I am looking at a lower ET..

I prefer to get the thing to hook than back the power down.. I would be playing with tires and suspension... utilize this new found power :)

A lower ET is what I hoped to gain from the start,is the slight gain in torque enough to change a suspension that hooked great, to all wrong, that quick?I didn't think 5-7 tenths less was asking alot,:please: instead of 60 ft times I'm not willing to print:banghead:
 
well if your setup was on the borderline to start with? yep.. a power change can cause disaster.. although our setups are radically different than any bike (some bikes do run lockup clutches however) I would bet that what you need to do is not that big of a deal, just a matter of getting the track time (a GOOD observer and video tape can do wonders btw)

If you have logs of previous runs (temps, tire pressures, etc) you might be able to find what you need without much track time and the help of someone like Rick.. Heck it could just be you for all that matter, might just need to make some adjustments to your style.. :) (would sure be the cheapest solution) :)
