1999 225mph versus 2004/05 mph

Please excuse my question - i ask from no experience or evidence.

all models after 1999 apparently do not have the speedo maxed at 225mph? so the 1999 did? and could it reach that?

what is stopping the 2000-2005 bikes from reaching it?
hp rating is the same yes?

99-00 had the 220 speedo, in 2k1+ it was changed 2 180. the bike bike, in a nut shell, has not been changed dramatically since 99. mostly fairings every year. i bleive in 2000 or 2k1 they put the different fuel pumps in... and in 2k3

they put the fast computer in. (32 bit vs 16 bit).. and im sure there are other things.... but as far as its speed, the 99 and 2000 had the "unrestricted" engine, but for 2k1 a TRE and pair valve can fix this problem.

The 99 and 00 models of the Busa were in fact unrestricted with 220 MPH/354KPH gauges. Off the showroom the bikes would never reach that speed, but that is what the gauges indicated. In 2001, motorcycle manufacturers agreed to restrict the top speed on bikes and the 185MPH gauges were born. A limited was placed on the bikes to make it think it was in 5th gear when in 6th and keep the speed down to 186. I'm sure there is something I left out, but it is possible to override the restriction but the bike still won't reach 220 with stock gearing and without some other modifications.
