1k vs busa, wtf?

I have had an 02 1k... and now a 09 1k! They will give a busa hell from 60 to 160 mph! I also have a 08 gen 2 busa! They are quicker to get into there power band then the busa... also shorter stroke! Its close... but a 1k gets into its power quicker!

 No comment. I refuse to admit defeat.

Send your friend my way, I'll slap him back to next Tuesday in any gear roll on.

The 1k's are some quick bikes... as far as weight, it does make a big difference. My bike loves the second gear roll ons at about 70 and unless it is a lightweight ( very close race) on a 1k, they see my arse.

Maybe he just has 'mas grande cojones' than you ?
:dunno:

I did see a Gixxer 1k today at Blais that puts 190hp to the wheel !

Jdsbusa that is a beautiiful bike
I love the look of those turbo downpipes on the Busas !

My track bike is a 03' gsxr 1k, pretty much the same thing as an 04. I can assure you that it is slower than my 08 busa however the difference is not very noticeable until about 140.

Missing 2nd gear is killing you, and liters are stronger from a role-on anyways.
Your power advantage is also not that great vs that bike, and your significantly heavier.

Good Luck!

If you're not in 2nd gear at 75mph, you're not going to get the torque necessary to pull away from him early on. Regardless, weight variance, rider skill and that 2nd gear missing is killing you. At 75mph I'm just shifting into 2nd gear.

As for being in 6th gear on a liter bike and pulling away from you.....I don't buy that for a second.

He definetly was not in 6th gear when he pulled from you. I am in the same boat as Vonderbach is. Not having 2nd gear is killing you.

I will admit that my zx10r will spank my busa's ass...any day-all day! though my busa is bone stock and my 10 is built....

1. he is much lighter than you
2. his bike is much lighter than yours
3. racing from a roll, takes away the advantages the busa has......and and helps him negate the drawbacks of a short wheelbase bike.

race from a stop, where the longer wheelbase, torque and higher weight will help you....1000's can only accelerate so fast on one wheel.

Does 2nd gear always go out on the gen 1

only way I've heard of a gear going out on that busa or any other bike is from how the bike is rode. you can't ride a bike like it's "fast even though it is and not ease up from it"
also, if you skip a gear when trying to go faster (jumping from 1st to 3rd more times than once) will also cause 2nd to go out or worse.

I don't know these from experience or anything like that...just know some people that have gone through it in those ways (more than once) and from our bike builder back in OK.

there is an easy way to beat him all u have to do is right before you give the head nod to go start moving towards him he will back off and you will win. its not safe at all but if all u care about is winning. theres your answer. if that doesnt work turbo.
