2 near misses - 2 days

This has been quite a week...

First event occurred after work, 2 days ago, after a meeting went amuck. I was driving home on a 45 mph 4-lane thinking about the doinkus that I work with and there were two trucks in front of me.

The first was making a right hand turn and they both applied brakes. I slowed down and the first one slowed so much to turn off the road that the truck behind had to come to a dead stop.

I wasn't really paying attention until I could read the serial number on his bumper

I quickly zipped to the right to avoid rear-ending him and ended up passing him on the right. As I stopped, the two in the truck were giving me an odd look....

lesson - never leave work on your bike while dwelling on a crapola meeting

Yesterday was episode 2....

Met my daughter at kung fu class and parked my bike out in the lot about 5 pm. Came out an hour later and some guys says "dude, that your bike?" I say yeah and he says it's about to tip over... and sure enough the stand was about 3 inches deep into the asphalt.

I thought since it was late in the day and not particularly hot out that I could park without using my little plastic foot.... wrong.... and I haven't installed sliders yet...

lesson - use the little plastic foot the dealer gives you

He's talking about a plastic/metal disc to place under your sidestand when parked on hot asphalt. Sometimes the stands will sink. A crushed pop-can is my "Disk" of choice.

I have never had a problem though, but anytime your parked on freshly paved surfaces in the summer it's a possibility.

The rest of the week has been pretty smooth, although we do have a hurricane coming through

It is supposed to go east of us here, but I don't entirely trust our weather folks....

I have been keeping my eyes peeled since the near rear end.

Hey Matt - I grew up in a town south of Syracuse call Bath... blink going by and you'd miss it!!
