I had an 18 Busa and an 18 ZX14r. While I did not race them I did prefer the Busa. It felt more balanced and smooth. Shifting was smother.
They were both fast! The ZX did have traction control but mine almost lost it while accelerating around a corner.
I am still thinking about another Busa not a ZX14. I like the Busa looks better too.

You are a great advocate of the Busa vs ZX14R struggle then....
From all I've read, there isn't a lot of difference between the two, but that's only 2nd hand info whereas you have 1st hand knowledge.

I must admit the stock riding position is more comfortable on the ZX. I almost bought an 06 Busa recently but my dealer said he will have a grey 19 in within a couple of weeks and I want to see that.

I just bought a brand new zx14. sold my 06 busa last year. with the 1397 kit etc on the busa it matches every bit my new zx14 in hp and torque but thats after a lot of motor work. I have to say the zx14 is more comfortable. for me at least. Still havent got the break in done yet. Its Ohio after all but my early impressions are that the 14 is more comfy to ride and running stock to stock with a g2 busa its just flat out faster. But i felt the busa was more nimble and throttle response was immediate versys my 14 i guess due to the secondary butterfly in the intake. or something like that from what ive read about. plus the electronics are way better. That being said if there is a g3 busa and its a barn stormer than i will be trading back to it in about 3 years or so. The busa is still my favorite overall. There is just something about that bike. well, you know what i mean.
I only got ride a ZX14 once. Not a fair comparison as it takes a little while to acquaint one's self with a bike, but I'm 90% sure the Busa handles better. Granted, my '04 has Ohlins works in the forks and a reworked shock, but to me it feels more neutral, unstressed, in a hard turn. A drag race I think would be closer

My ZRX was a nicer street bike. But I don't care. I wanted a Busa.
Proud owner of Miltons slowest Hayabusa. Also the fastest as its the one one I know of in town

I am in that boat as well. I could have bought whatever I wanted (the Boss lady gave me permission).
I had always wanted a Hayabusa and like you my Bandit was/is a better daily street bike but I wanted a Busa.
I didn't (and don't) care that it is not the latest cutting edge or fastest bike anymore. I didn't buy it to be a street dominator, I bought it because I love the bike and it was a dream many years in the making to own one...
Sometimes I still can't believe I own one, then I step into the garage....

As most know I ended up buying another Busa. I got a 19 black. Just something about a Busa.

You are correct, there is something about a Busa....other bikes may have a performance advantage or whatever but a Busa has soul.
