200 instead of 190??

after burning through the original 190's i bought a set of pirelli's with a 200 rear, now that i need new tires im looking for a good 190/55. It's all about the look with the 200.

The stock BT56J that comes on the bike measures 198 even though it says 190, I have run a 200 on both of the busa's and like every one else has said they fit with no trouble.

The bike won't corner as well with a 200 and the difference in
traction is almost nill...also the 190's are less $$$ and more
brands make them vs. the 200's.

but the 200 looks better AND THE BIKE DOES WHAT WE NEED THEM TO DO. NOT ACT LIKE WERE SUPERBIKE CURVE HUGGING MY BIKE IS BETTER THAN YOU RYDERZS

"looks better" is a relative term and only an opinion. You will hardly notice the difference in tire width between a 190 and a 200 when just looking at them.

"does what we need them to do" is also a relative term. You may do something entirely different (and obviously are) than what I do. I don't just ride in a straight line to Starbucks for the Friday Night Gathering to pose in the parking lot. Some of us actually ride the hell out of our bikes in the mountains, twisties, long spirited trips etc...

Also, someone was asking for more traction - even in a straight line. The 190/55 might have a couple mm smaller contact patch when upright, but the tire compound will provide twice the traction of a wider 200 series harder compound tire. If traction is what he looking for, then he should focus more on tire compound than tire width.

What we need them to do?? What do you know of what I, BA BUSA, SpeedGeek needs our Busas to do??

I could care less about how my busa looks, ever read my sig line?

Not everyone hear is concerned about Show or how phat my rear tire looks.

You want carving performance, than you go for a more track oriented tire in a 190/55 size.

What do I need my Busa to do? To carve corners as well as a Superbike!!

Very well put sir!

I sorta gotta laugh. The B-King owners are taking their 200s off and putting on 190s. The 'Busa owners are taking off their 190s and are putting on 200s.

We're all certifiable, aren't we?

Boy howdy, lots of varying opinions on this subject. I really can't ride well enough to feel much difference in a 190 and 200 series tire. My lap times remain about the same with either tire.

However, this is what our infamous Mike Sullivan (SullivanRaceSchool.com) has to say about the difference. Mike, who has held the number one plate in our state more than any other human being alive says the 200 series tire gives better traction than the 190 but it has a slower turn in and more unsprung weight to carry. Mike who still wins more than he looses at 52 years young, says he is happy to give up quick tip in for more traction and better drive out of the corners. Mike also owns the track record at Pacific Raceway, our home track.

You only took part of what I said.... I highly doubt any of these Busa guys will be buying a 200 series race tire in a 60 or 70 series (as in SLICK sizes). They will be buying a 200 series tire in a ROAD sport touring type compound which will actually offer less grip even though it has a bigger contact patch, than a 190 in a high performance tire. I doubt Mike Sullivan would want to trade from a 190/60 Dunlop 209N-tec to a wider 200/50 sport touring tire.

My point was that it is probably more important to consider compounds than a slightly wider tire when looking for extra traction. And why sacrifice hanling if you don't have to?
