Well today i stopped by my local zuki dealership for they're thursday night rides. (only five people showed) :fag: I got there about an hour early cause i like shootin the poop with the guy's. lo and behold ........ they're suzuki rep was there!! YES!! minute i walk in the door they tell the rep (Dave) to talk to me. i met him, very nice guy with an english accent. he used to work on the suzuki emgo machines for 10+ years till the opening for the rep. position came available. he turned down the opportunity to ride my bike because of liability. he said if it had a work order on it for something he could. well the suzuki shop whipped one up and dave was still reluctant to ride it :fag: he said he would come down later this summer and spend the night in the area and do it then, (plus he had a suit and tie on)

picked his brain about the 05' bikes. :be: he said for sure that the new 1k will have roughly 20+hp. and he only had some rumors for the bus. he said it WILL go through a design change with the plastics. and i said "I hear that the block will have more meat on it for big bores, like 1500cc or something" he smiled and said "It's not goin to be a 1300cc for 05' from what i hear, it might be a 1400-1500cc from what i gather" he DID say rumors, but when i told him i plan on selling my bike to get a 04' he HIGHLY recommended waiting till 05', "you'll be mad if you get a 04' now and dont wait" :bn:

dave was a super kool guy, he had a chevy van with a GSXR 750 in it, it was one of the old emgo motors before they went to the liter's. he had tons of pieced together parts from tons of bikes and superbike parts from when he worked on the team. he said that he collected tons of parts when he worked on the race teams. and that he has a garage full of parts for gixxers, he get's to keep many of the parts from the suzuki warranty programs. he's instructed to "dispose" of them, but he said he just keeps collecting and building his own bikes out of various parts.

well, just .02 worth of hype but you gotta keep the carrot infront of the horse right??

remember he did tell me to wait till 05' or i'd be upset!!

Hmmm interesting ... we shall see as another rumor says that those changes won't come until the '06 model year ... changes in '05 would be nice though!

I've heard these exact same rumors every year for the past five years. And it's always from a "Suzuki Rep". They know as much about what happens inside Suzuki as every other non-riding schmuck who insists on asking, "uh, do you ride a bike?" when they see someone in full gear... and then proceeds to strike up a conversation as if they've ridden the past 30 years.

Why can't people just wait patiently until September when Suzuki unveils the brand new color schemes using different combinations of silver, charcoal and blue?

Man, if they can just manage to find some of that red paint this year that I know they've stockpiled, I'll be all over that.

Well, FWIW, I like the 'Busa very much the way it is.

If it becomes more of a radical straight-liner, I won't much enjoy riding it in the real world -- 1400-1500cc's will maybe mean a pretty heavy, hard to handle bike.

I think the 'Busa needs some tuning and some tecnical improvements -- better brakes and a little lightening and stiffening of the frame comes to mind.

OTOH, if they were to re-do the engine they could probably get a lot more bang out of the same displacement, as they are already doing with the GSXRs.

Ummm, how many people have actually ran into limitations based on the current stiffness of the frame? I'm bot bein' a smartazz, I've just never seen any complaints on chassis flex on a busa. That comment just strikes me as odd. Can you detail what sort of frame stiffness problems you're having with the current design?

I ain't buying it yet. I can't really see any significant changes that they can do to the bike other than lightening it up. The aero package is supposedly still second to none...Can they really get it any better? Most of us have about165+rwhp with a pipe and good mapping. If they bump the power up 15rwhp that'll put us in the 180rwhp range stock. Most of us will then pipe it and remap it...That'll have us in the 190rwhp range, however the bike's top speed will be governed and it probably won't be as easy to get around on the new models. Don't get me wrong...I want a new Super BUSA and I'm probably in a position to buy a new one and keep my 2000 BUSA which I love. I know the additional rwhp and lightening it up will make it quicker, but it'll also make the bike much more difficult to ride. I think that's why we haven't seen a change in so long...I don't think they really know what they should do now that they've "ended the top speed wars". Who cares about 200rwhp if your governed to 186mph. It's totally unnecessary.

That said...Basically I just don't wanna get my hopes up.

FYI...I was watching the Moto GP race...I think it was cataluna...It was the one after Mugello. Anyway they said that while the bikes were going 340kph down teh front straight...The back tire was actually spinning at 360 kph. Can you imagine that...You're in 6th gear at 210mph and the back tire is still spinning...That is unreal...The tire technology has got to catch up to the engine power technology...Same thing with street bikes.

But what do I know...I'm just a fuggin hack!

Just something to think about;
Wouldn't it make sense for a "suzuki rep" to create buzz for the company's '05 models??

Wait till september, then we'll know.
Rumors, rumors, rumors........ when will it end??

...Ummm, how many people have actually ran into limitations based on the current stiffness of the frame?...
Good point.

I'm not complaining about chassis flex per se, it's just that the newer manufacturing techniques employed in the latest liter bikes have had the combined benefits of lightness and increased stiffness, and the 'Busa could benefit from same.

I mean, more stiffness is always a good thing, especially if they were able to get uber-sneaky and get the frame over the engine somehow or integrated line the 12R so that the bike could be narrower.

With all the hp and torque it generates even now in stock form, such improvements would give it even longer legs as a concept.

Traditionally, the GSX series has been very consistent with it's research and development. Normally, Suzuki will remain with a current design for around (8) eight years before any real design mods (i.e. katana line). Especially with a successful line such as the Hayabusa, # 1 bike in the world.

When these mods are made to a specific model, they're usually minimal and are typically cosmetic.

My two cents...

My guess (like said before) radial, digital and (more) radical!
( A few kg:s lighter maybe.... wheels, speedo and exhaust will do that.)
No body modification. To slim already.

More hp (5-10?) is ok if the torque stays the same.
