2008 Hayabusa AFR question!

Howdy, I have an interesting question. I have a AEM Wideband UEGO Sensor and gauge and would like to install. I'm aware of the install procedures and feel confident doing all that. But my question is as far as AFR goes, what would be my ideal safe range for my 2008 Hayabusa? I've only got a few mods, (KN filter, M4 slip-ons, and PC) I would just like to keep an active eye on that stuff while riding.

BTW I have the Gauge from my last project (still new/never used) so its ether do something with it or find some clown to buy it.:banghead:

100% Agree with 13.1 : 1.

If you are really dilligent about checking and correcting for different fuels, temperatures, corrected altitude, etc. every time you race, you can make more power at leaner conditions. Also, different sensors give different readings, and the readings can drift a bit over time between calibrations on any given type of sensor. On 86 or 87 octane race fuel I can lean it out to 13.4 or even 13.5 for slightly more power, but you need to be carefull and tune continuously if you cut it that close. These bikes are not closed loop (despite many postings to the contrary). You can be set at 13.2 at 3PM in the afternoon sun, and the cool night air rolls in with a high pressure weather front and your all of a sudden at 13.7. Boom, another offering to the gods of speed.

Look into the Motty AFR tuner. I am talking to a distributor to the unit now. I am thinking of getting one for my 08 busa. It isnt cheap, but I like the features it offers. Its takes your open loop speed density setup and makes it a closed loop speed density setup. It uses a wide band o2 sensor to make the changes. The more you ride it....the better the tune gets for the rpm band you ride in. I have beeen reading the manual from the site. Read it twice. There is a special at another site for the plug and play unit etc. PM me for the info. It has many neat features and is similiar to the other systems out there, but I like the closed loop tuning feature that you can leave on. So any changes you make.....exhaust, air filter, stack, etc....it will tune to a target AFR no matter what you do. Look it up! I haven't bought one yoet nut have talked to others with these units personally and I am impressed with it.
