Well Rick enlighten us,please, please, please, or is it top secret info. 200hp normally aspirated whoa!! what's your set up.
Yes Frank the spacing between the cylinders was the most predominant factor why the head gasket let go but the heat problem alone wouldv'e got you any way, detonation, cylinders out of round etc.My engine builder would always tell me whenever you start to make power you start to break things. You make more power, you make more heat, if you can't controll the heat something's gonna give.

Thanks for your help, I will surely e-mail you in the near future w/some questions. For now I was wondering if you had motor sent out ( who's yur engine builder?), or did you do most of the work yourself? Also read today in the "Motorcycle Performance" magazine an add placed by "Carpenter Race Engines", it read , (Update Carpenter Hayabusa at Bonneville Salt Flats, Larry Forstall, 196.838mph 195 RW HP, World Record) did you run against this guy over there? reason why I ask is b/c I thought you had run 200mph; or maybe he's in a different class. I have been doing mtorcycle engines for 20 years, do all the engine work my self.

Looks like BOB Carpenter is a little bit behind the times. In August larry broke the record at 196.838mph (my bike wasn't ready)

In September we both were there and I took the record at 201.708mph.
You can see the SCTA results for that day at
http://www.scta-bni.org/Bonneville/World Finals/WFres_thur.htm
I am the second from the top.

You can see pictures of both of us in the staging lines at

Lower the compression......
Put on a turbo and NOS and then you get +450hp. Motor dies after 1000miles, but it was fun while it lastet!! LOL.

WE JUST FINISHED OUR 23RD 1300 MOTOR.IT HAS ALL STOCK PARTS,VALVES,SPRINGS,CAMS,PISTONS,AND IS ONLY 12.6-1 COMPRESSION AND ON PUMP GAS WITH OUT A POWER COMMANDER AND WITH A SMASHED YOSH PIPE IT MADE 195HP AND 112FT LBS OF TOURQUE!! POWER COMMANDERS ARE GOOD FOR 2-3 HP AND A ACROPOVIC WAS TESTED TO BE 3HP BETTER THAN THIS PARTICULAR YOSH.NO DOUBT 200HP WITH STOCK BORE IS POSSIBLE!! I`M THERE!!I HAVE A INTAKE CAM BEING GROUND THAT WILL WORK WITH STOCK SPRINGS AND A LITTLE VALVE POCKET WORK THAT SHOULD BE GOOD FOR 5HP.BY THE WAY I WENT 200MPH IN JUNE AT A ECTA EVENT AT MAXTON AIR PORT ON A BUSA MAKEING 185HP IN A 1 MILE RUN!!SO MAYBE I NEED A NEW DYNO?? 196MPH WITH 195HP AT THE SALT FLATS WITH 3MILE RUN?

Lee, It's good to see your back and doing well!

It's also good to see your so eager to find that Hp. Keep us up to date!

Frank

Boneville is closer to 4000 feet and by 12 noon the corrected altitude was about 8000 feet. This was at speed week 1999.
Makeing the power was not the problem getting it to the salt was, The salt was like slushy snow and full of pot holes
NOT FUN
