24 hours w/o smoking

Sorry guys, I couldnt resist.  In al honesty though, I really hope and pray you guys make it.  I hope when I decide to quit, you're nicer to me than I've been to you.
Ha Ha!! You can kiss my @$$ when you try to quit!

Just kidding, I got your back. What are you waiting for anyways? If you are waiting for the right time to quit, you will never do it. Trust me, after 2 days of not smoking you will feel better.

No, I'm waiting for the carton i bought a few days ago to run out. I'm also thinking i should try to taper off somewhat before i try to quit as well. I smoke 2+ packs a day. I'm afraid that if i try to go cold turkey, they'll never find the bodies...

I once tried quitting by saying I'll only smoke when I drink alcohol...I get out of alcohol rehab next monday..

You can do it, I know you can! I am going to sleep, seems to be the easiest way to make it sometimes.

I'm really proud of everyone that's trying to quit! I mean that!

It will make everything in your life taste and smell better. People around you will want to be closer to you. The only people that will not like it are the ones that like to bum a smoke off of you. They can go buy their own. You home and vehicle (minus the Busa) will become a healthier place. Those of you with children may just save them from a lifetime of athsma and bronchitis (I know this one first hand). People won't think you smell like an ashtray anymore.

Lot's of great thing are just over the 72hr hill.

You will need to wash EVERYTHING cloth in your house and cars, including your carpets, to get the smoke smell out. I think this is what most people the quit smoking fail to do right away. Scent triggers the strongest emotions. It will subconciously remind you to smoke everytime your in the house. It will be a lot easier if the smells are gone during the nicotine withdrawls.

Avoiding friend and co-workers that smoke will also help.

Be strong! We're pulling for you!

I've never smoked so I can't imagine what it's like trying to quit. But keep up the fight you'll beat it. The mind controls the body, the body doesn't control the mind.

I smoke for 27 years now and I just can`t quit. I love smoking.. I feel good when I do that. pack a day for 27 years....

I tried 2 times and not succeeded..

Failure makes me feel bad about myself.

If You can quit go for it.

My dad smoked, and chewed, and passed away at age 48. I don't want anyone of you guys from having a bad or short life from cigs.

Godspeed everyone.

Sorry to hear that moto.

If ya dont mind me asking, what was the cause of death?

Don, you can do it! I'm on week 3 cold turkey, and I don't crave a smoke anymore and I smoked more than anyone I know and have for over 40 years. The key is you have to WANT to stop. I'm pulling for you bud!

Best of luck kicking the habit...I've watched my Dad try to stop for most of my life and he still smokes, so I know it's a tough habit to break

Thanks for all the support. I don't smoke in the house so that is a plus. I need to clean the car out. Going on approx 33 hours. Drank half a bottle of wine last night so that I could sleep. I remember last time I quit, I couldn't sleep so I took the proactive approach this time. So far so good.

Don

Great job. Keep it up.

You might want to look into a low risk sleep aid. Alcohol is not the best option as it can form a chemical dependency like nicotine.

The first 3 days definately are the hardest and it takes a lot of willpower. If you give in the first one tastes like crap and teh second one tastes like heaven, then you're smoking again. Don't let yourself have one more. The pills work well, but there can be side effects. Make sure you talk to your doctor before taking them. I used them to quit twice. I've not smoked longer just using willpower. I feel so much better not smoking that I can't see myself starting again.
