I'm new on the board and since all we have is snow outside in northern Wisconsin...and I cant ride my new 06 that has zero miles on it, I thought I'd ask a question...what are your opinions on the best way to launch a busa. Is it better to feather the clutch or can you launch it like a powercrusier by using limited wheelspin instead. Also what rpm works well so as to not overpower the rear tire? The bike is all stock and I plan to keep it that way. Thanks for the excellent resource of this board, its helped me with several busa issues already!

Welcome to the board. 1st off, there is no such thing as "limited wheelspin". If the tire is cold, once you light the tire, she's lit, I usually have to back off on the throttle. If the tire is warm, my M1's will catch and the front end is about 12:00. Caution is the word, 1st gear can be hard to manage. I'm not a drag racer but I think the preferred launch method is about 4500 and feather the clutch trying to keep the front from lofting. Good luck. My favorite thing (when my tire is about shot) is the 1st gear rolling burnout....about 5000 when the tire is cold, cover the tank and twist it up. Bust the back tire loose and hold the front end about a foot in the air, what a hoot. It's the only "squid" move I know...very showy for the crowd. However, she will put you flat on your can in a split second!

I launch by feathering the clutch. I have gotten pretty consistent with it. I am not an expert but I have raced 2 full seasons with the stock clutches and they are not slipping yet.

So....what you guys are saying is just bounce it off the rev limiter and dump the clutch eh!

Just kidding, thanks for the advice and I'll be careful.
