3520 miles and 10 days later

Happy 20th. Thank you for sharing your trip with us. How did the wife like it? My was complying after our short 45 mile trip.

The wife really liked things but the seat is probably the hard part, no pun intended and her only real complaint. The first 40-50 miles after a fill up went quick but after that we would get to moving around a little trying to keep the butt comfy.

Seats are on the list for upgrading, the search is on.

wow todd, that is freakin awesome! that is my dream, to take a looong motorcycle trip. it is very hard to get away from work for more than a few days for me unfortunatly.

regarding your future possible mods, I already have most of those and they make the bike much better for long day rides. but i gotta ask. what are "rear-sets"?

I know what you mean by having the time to get away. We've talked about doing this for a long time but haven't had the opportunity and probably won't be doing it again for quite some time. Work keeps me away from home way to many days of the year and vacations are usually full of honey-do list stuff.

Oh yeah, rear-sets:

I'm running the Sato Drags and love 'em.They are lower than stock(about the same as the buell mod) but and inch or so further back. But they won't work with every exhaust although they're fine with my ShortMeg. Wouldn't recommend them for the kneedraggers.

Everyone, we thank you all for the kind words. Yes, 20 years has gone by fast. No we didn't get married at 15 but have been together in some form or fasion since she was 13 and I was 14 (now 38 & 39) and getting married a year after high school. Tammy looks no where near her age and I look, well a bit older than I am but only 8 months seperate us.

As for the 2 popo encounters, yeah I know. I was looking at detectors and jammers during the buying spree before the trip but never got around to choosing one. For the miles traveled and pace we were keeping at time time I suppose I was lucky.

Fuel, I know the Busa calls for at least 90 octane. I wanted to see if the mid-grade 89 really proved to be a suitable sub for the premium 93 or what ever was available at that particular station. Only difference I saw was in milage, seat of the pants didn't see any difference. An average of 40 mpg or better fully loaded with tank bag, luggage, wife and myself wasn't to bad I think.

Thursday the 12th all the fun ends when Fionna gets put back in the garage until I am home again. The next couple days call for sun and fair temps so a bit more riding is on the schedule. 4000 mile service is right around the corner now.

awesome trip! cops down south are somthing else, when i was 18 (going to bike week in daytona) riding my 89 gsxr 1100 they saw me and 5 of my friends take off from a toll booth and actually timed us as soon as we paid at the next toll pulled us all over and sat and wrote 5 tickets for excessive speed...some how we made it to next toll booth in 1/3 of the time from their average time . for some reason they assumed we were speeding ???
