I just move to CT and was quoted $4,000 a year from progressive insurance for a '99 'busa. I noticed that some of you are from CT and was wondering if you paid that much and if not, where you got your insurance from. Thanks...

$482.00 in NJ State Farm,,But that may go up ?? once they realize what the Busa really is. Plus your car has to be insured also with State F. for them to Cover your Bike.

Morris, where do you live (rural /city) and what is your driving history like. (clean/DUI)

There are other companies besides Progressive. From earlier posts State Farm seems to offer low rates and Progressive's rates seem high no matter what state you are in.

Have mine with State Farm...full coverage 500 deductable...365 every six months...no tickets...so I just got comp...if I crash they`re mine. I`m in NC which has very high insurance rates.

I just moved to Putnam due to a new job. I moved here particularly because the roads are excellent. Have you ever been to the vanilla bean cafe. In the summer it is loaded with bikes.
My driving record isn't perfect - 2 tickets in the past 2 years.
The point is, in Massachusetts my insurance would be $850 - fully covered.
I called state farm and they said that they are not taking new customers until March. Any other places I could call?

Try Farmers Insurance, too. They go strictly by engine size, not bike type. The Busa costs the same as a Harley or other big bore bike with them. I pay $330/6 mos $100k/$300k liability and low deductibles ($100 or $200 as I recall) for Long Beach, CA ZIP code.

According to my agent, they also pay off on the full value you've got in the bike as long as you can prove it with receipts.

When I asked Progressive for a quote, the first thing they asked me was how I wanted to finance it. My response was if I had to finance it, I wasn't interested. I think their customers are paying big bucks for those full page ads.

Hey Falcon Cop just got a Quote from State Farm $50 comp $100 ded for coll total prem for year $792.60 opposed to $1500 a yr from rider

I paid 438.00 for full coverage for 1 year from dairyland ins. then 2 weeks later they game me a 85.00 refund check and told me they overcharged me. this is with a 200.00 deductable. and in cental Texas.

Holy gouges Batman!!! Morris, w/ a $4K/yr quote I would probably faint or go into a berserker rage and start kicking some a55!!

If you can help it don't pay more that $800.00/yr and I would say that that is a lot. I pay a little over $300.00, granted w/ a clean record. I am told by my Ins agent that the quote is per cc. I would also say that the best quotes are from State Farm and Farmer's Insurance. I am currently w/ State Farm.

Like the song goes "Ya betta shop around!" Some haggling wouldn't hurt. If one agent gives you a crazy quote then go to a different agent for the same company. Surprisingly the quotes can change $50.00 or more.

I hate to see the kind of insurance rate abuse you're experiencing. Good Luck.

If you're in the AMA check out the SURERIDERS program (goes thru Progressive). They were around $1k full coverage. You might also want to look at your level of coverage. I consider it a bad idea to finance toys.

Yes I know Vanilla Bean Cafe. Let me know when snow clears when you'll be there.

Yeah well if you think that is bad I got a quote from geico for $9K per yr.

Now you know why they have to keep running ads day in and day out. It also didn't help that Geico buys speed measuring devices for PDs so you can be nailed easier and Geico can jack up your rates even more. I despise insurance companies nearly as much as big government and Geico is the worst.

I forgot to mention - Previous policy holders have told me that if Geico discovers that you use a radar detector they will drop you in an instant regardless of your driving record.

What ever you do on insurance do not buy GEICO,those people are crooks in my eyes, had insurance from them when I was in the Navy and when I got out after my six year tour they Quad my rate yes 4X my rate, and I lived in the same state California when I got out and my home base was San Diego when onboard ship. They spend all their money on TV ads.

I can recommend my insurance company/agent. I go with Allstate. They don't require you to insure your car with them to do the bike. My agent is Rich Mastro in Sacramento, CA. If you want his # after I tell you the quote, mail me (insinu8@pacbell.net)
I just got off the phone with him about my inbound missile. Got financed today also! The quote for full coverage as required by the finance company is *drum roll please* $324/yr. Yes, that's it. My specs are: 34, single, no points. I think my deductables are $250/$500. You don't have to live in Sacto either. He deals with most/all of the local police on bikes and a fair number of the CHP as well.

Prior military should check out USAA Insurance. I pay $212 a year with 200ded. Usually at the end of the year they give you a rebate/dividend. ($62 last year)
