4-2 exhaust headers

Ask for Martin. The beauty of their muffler is that their down pipes on one side is 45 mm, the left, the right side is 48 mm and those fit a Gen II slip on muffler or GEN III slip on with the little adapter pipes that Yoshimura makes.

Hi @Spudley, Martin got back and ready to pull the trigger.. any feedback on the performance and sound with the max torque headers.

Not yet, I'm still finishing the build. The arrangement though eliminates all catalytic converter's, and the downpipe diameters are consistent with Yoshimura so I believe we've got good open flow to the RS 3'a, or R 77 whatever you're getting, and the rest will be able to find out on a dyno. You'll notice the left side is more restricted than on the right as per the factory muffler arrangements so that tells you more of the exhaust pressure will be leaving the right hand side.

Unrestricted is a good thing.

Oh, excuse me, the quality of the exhaust is very good though. I had mine matte black ceramic coated in England before it left. I think it was an extra 250 bucks or something.

lill advise aside

as far as i understood the gen3 engine-hardware is similar to gen2 - so any gen2 header should fit at gen3 - i suppose

and if u try a gen1or2 akrapivic-header , which is a "collection" of some 8-10 pieces , this should fit also.

the distance between the exhaust ducts in the head varies, if at all, by 1-2 mm, which an akrapovic should be able to easily compensate for.
and the inner dia of the downpipes at all gens is similar - i guess - some1 should try that and tell us the result. ;)

I got the max torque headers in the mail today.. @Spudley this looks a bit different from your picture.. in the area highlighted with the circle, yours has a clamp and mine is welded.. and the clamps are positioned differently.. so wondering if this is ok...

also in the picture where arrows are indicated i did not get any clamps.. did you have to use existing clamps or you got new ones with your package?

also @Spudley can you please share the dimensions of the round clamps you have at the mid pipe (where are arrows are in the picture)? I will look to buy new ones

Have you contacted MaxTorque?
I have installed several brands of exhausts that use those style clamps, and they are always included.
I would say that was their mistake and they owe them to you.
As for the design change, I cannot say, but I would ask about it as well.
Especially if I didn't have the bike apart yet.
There's nothing worse than having something apart, getting bad parts, and continueing to wait for more...while things are apart and in the way.

yes also send a query to maxtorque.. waiting for their response.. i agree it is super disappointing if I realize the design change is not fitting well. I will keep posted here once i hear back from them
