A Challenge Are You Faster?

well, as far as a gentlemans race. i did that last night. my stock busa against a very highly modified gsxr 1100. he's a buddy of mine and a great guy. his bike put out over 160 rwhp on the dyno. we went out with a bunch of guys last night late and did top speed runs and roll-ons. my busa left him. period. but unfortunately, that's not the end of the story. he later did this with a zx-9r and ended up colliding at a high rate of speed. now that beautiful gixxer is toast. nothing salvagable about it. maybe the motor. but the rest, including a set of pm chicane wheels that he put on yesterday, are all gone. he's in the hospital, lucky to be alive. i'm feeling guilty, even though it's not my fault, i wasn't even running at the time. but hey, because i own a busa, everybody wants to test it out. i had fun, until the bodies and bikes went flying. while great guys, they just didn't have a plan, they just went for it and someone messed up. i hope poeple who read this take heed, no big groups of bikes flying down the highway at once, two bikes go for it if that's what you want, but the more bikes in a high speed group, the more chance of damage. well, the 9 slows down rather rapidly, the 11 goes through the back of him. not a pleasant site. sorry to bum everybody out, but hey, just trying to keep it real. have fun, ride what you got and be proud of it.

Hello Boys,
I see you slammed that guy Slurpee for coming here and pointing out that it's taken every other manufacturer nine years to come up with a bike that can beat the ZX11. One of you even went so far as to call the 11 old and heavy.
I challenge any of you in my area to a gentleman's race of your 1300 against my 1100 either for top speed or roll-ons from 20mph or what ever (no knee dragging if I wanted to do that I'd buy a 750). I'd like to see if the hype is real. I remember when the ZX11 was redesigned in 93 they claimed it would go 180 but it never did. When the Blackbird came out in 97 they said it would beat a ZX11 but it couldn't produce either. In fact I've encountered 1100XX guys on the highway and they wouldn't exceed 65mph.
If you're so sure my bike is too old to be competitive then the fact that mine is a '92 should reinforce your egos onto thinking you can beat me. So prove it. My ZX11 has a pipe, a jet kit and a 42 tooth rear sprocket. I know I'm faster and I've spent a lot less money then you guys. So come and whip me, if you think you can.

Dear Sir,

I currently own a 93 ZX-11D and I guarentee that no matter what you did to yours-short of nitros or a turbo-that my black Hayabusa will kick the what little pride that bike has left. I also own a 97 CBR XX and that bike stock will out do the ZX. I admit that the 95 purple ZX-11 that I owned last year with the Micron header and pipe would have put up a good fight, but there is no way that it could have out done the Suzuki. You need to sell your bike and go first class. Change is good. If you want another ZX-11, mine is for sale.............................

Or wait until early next year for the new ZX12 with it's supposed 206mph top speed and 8.96 sec quarter :)

Wow I hate to hear of a crash like that,
thats why I keep the racing on the racetrack
Please everyone take it easy, but if you want to race a busa come to Leb. valley
in western mass. Just let me know when...

No Knee dragging!, you must be half a rider then, obviously you don't want to hit the corners becuase you already know that your bike is a toad through the tight stuff.
Any moron can hold a throttle wide open to take off fast or practice a little to get a good launch. Why don't you invest in some riding lessons and learn why you should only race on a race track.

Mr. G,
If you're scared say you're scared don't try to turn this around. My ZX11 wins horsepower shootouts at dynos across the state. The only two bikes to beat mine on the dyno are a big cc GSXR11 with flat slides and a GSXR11 with NOS. And neither wanted to try it for real. I can understand that you don't want to get a ticket cause your wife might make you sell your bike.
It's OK that you're afraid, you just go back over and hide behind your armchair and hold your rolled up magazine in your fist an keep repeating, "No I'm faster, it says so right here, tell them honey, you know I'm cool, don't you?"
Punk.

Ha Ha Ha, Awww poor baby did I make you cry!, The only one here telling themselves how good they are is you, look at all the previous times you had to convince and defend your bike to others.

Why don't you go and play on your own bikes web sight if they have one, we don't need imature adults like you spouting off childish challenges.

You sound very young and inexperienced either that your a fool, well either way you don't deserve future responses, so this will be my last response to your inane writings. You go ahead and stay a legend in your own mind.

Jamie is a girls name, sorry to dis you if your a girl. If your a girl then I commend you for riding such a big bike well.

Another bit of advice, you shouldn't put your phone # available to the entire public, just a security thing you know, it could be tied up by irate responders.

Hey guys/gals we should not be bad mouthing each other no matter who is the fastest, which bike is the fastest or what ever,we should be helping each other out on finding the right parts that will make our bike run better, handle better and stop better. We should be posting possible safety problems that our bikes may have and other safety issues that could save our life.Lets do our "Who is faster bragging rights on the Drag strip" or "twistes like Road Alantla or Laguna Secca" and remember you might win one night and lose the next. The main thing is that we are having fun with our bikes what ever we ride.Name calling should be left at school and I mean grade school like first grade. So lets get on with the world of motorcycling and by the way anyone knows of a good/reliable motorcycle mail order house I could use via the web or by mag.I figured I change the subject and cool everyone down.Ride safe guys/gals

MR G. first of all, i have no problems with cornering. the busa is not my only bike nor my first bike by far. and i will say this, i'll put my skills in the turns and that busa up against most (not all obviously) of the bikes and riders out there. i've got 20 years experience and had everything from dirt bikes to middleweight sportbikes to cruisers. i have plenty of training and plenty of riding experience. so, before you come in here talking smack to someone whom you don't even know, think about this: i was trying to show exactly what you so eloquently (not) pointed out. racing is for the track. period. but you can't tell me that you've never run your bike to the big numbers on the street. if you say that you haven't, your full of it. secondly, this was on the highway at two in the morning, with absolutely no traffic, with several bikes that have been destroyed as far as handling goes by having extended swing-arms. that's a shameful thing to do to a sport bike. (unless it will be strictly drag racing and no street riding.)anyway, all i'm trying to say is that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything. i'm not into that "my bike is better than your bike" bull. but don't ever presume to say that i am only half a rider. that's a fully ignorant statement. and i'm sure if you think about it, you will realize that. meantime, drive safe, keep your cool, and look out for those little old blue-haired ladies.

What ET and mph does this ZX11 run? What elevation was the track? I hope you aren't one of these '9 second street racers' that run 11.5s on a real track. I run 10.1s@137+mph.

And I have run ZX11s with more mods than you have with decent riders on my XX and didn't have any problems. And if you are winning hp shootouts either they don't have bikes there that run in PA or else you did it at a Harley dealership shootout. Then again you could be running more than you claim engine-wise. What are the numbers? You gotta back your claims up at least.

Mr. G,
I may be a man with a girls name but no matter what your name is you'll always be a bitch. I haven't had to defend my bike to anyone on this site or anywhere else, I don't know where you got that impression.
Who made who cry here anyway? You wrote, "You sound very young and inexperienced either that your a fool,....". Were you so upset that you couldn't proofread your post? The last thing you want to do when you're "spouting off" is write a broken sentence and misspell an easy word like you're (you're means you are, your shows ownership, didn't you learn that in 4th grade?) that would just help the opposition show everyone what low intelligence you must have.
The challenge here was "Are You Faster?". The challenge wasn't who has the better bike, it's who has the faster bike. I don't ride my bike everyday at the drag strip or at Road Atlanta. I don't care about quarter mile times that's got more to do with rider skill then with engine power. I ride on the street everyday and this is where I might encounter a XX Blackbird or a GSX1300R. I want to know if I'm faster, we don't need to run all the way up to 190, we should be able to tell who's more powerful from a roll-on at 100 up to say, 170. That only covers about half a mile anyway. To eek out those last few miles per hour would require a bigger stretch of road and then the chances of getting caught or having an accident would go up too.

Eric,
Opps, you've caught me. As I'm sure you know, every dyno gives a different reading for the same bike. A stock ZX11 is supposed to make 130hp at the rear wheel, mine made 119, as do a lot of other stockers. At my Suzuki dealer the bike makes 148hp, at the Pocono cycle festival (last year) it made 155hp, the high altitude really threw the jetting off, it was pouring raw gas out the pipe. At Koup's Cycle Shop's open house a few weeks ago, www.koups.com, it won with 137hp and more smoke due to an air box modification that I haven't jetted for yet ( the bike was literally in a million pieces on Wednesday, the shootout was on Saturday. I was up till 8am Sat. putting it back together). At the open house there was a GSX1300R there but he didn't run it on the dyno, I guess he was still breaking it in.

Pa. Hayabusa owners,
I'd like to run my bike against yours on the expressway some night when the traffic is low. I'd love for you to beat me that way I can justify the cost of a new ZX12. If my bike keeps up with or beats your bike though I'll probably keep mine. My ZX11 isn't stock or even close to stock though. It displaces 1206cc and has a few supporting pieces to keep it running well, however it's not turbocharged or NOS equipped. I've spent a few bucks on 'er but my total investment is less than $8500. There won't be any stupid squid runs between other cars and we can switch bikes back and forth for kicks.

I'm looking for fast guys in the Harrisburg Pa area,
thanks,
Jamie

Gixer, the guy's original post started with a challenge to all. Obviously I am not the only person that was taken back a bit by the original post. He did mellow a bit in later posts, but come on, so would you after getting blasted. My bike is not stock, but it certainly go anywhere, anytime and it obeys all laws (except California emmision..haha) I am coming his way, so I thought he might want to make good on his challenge. That's all..... plus I like to keep the Kawi guys in line. Sometimes we can get a tad carried away...lol.

As far as finding out a bit before a guy before I jump down his throat, he revealed all that I needed to know. But thanks for the insight.....you have a strong 750. Late.

Easy killer....

Yeah I've seen a lot of variance too on older bikes I've had. I figured there was more than just a pipe and jet kit involved. If anything I'd be most curious to see what mph yo turn on a dragstrip run moreso than the ET.

That would be "can certainly go..."

spelling of "emission"...

and, "about a guy"....

Was in a hurry earlier, didn't want to get blasted for my spelling and such.

Gixerbike1, I failed to answer your question from before. I don't know for sure that I can beat him and there are no guarantees. I do feel confident in my bike and my skills, and that keeps me in the game with most bikes. Here in California very few guys on the street can back up their claims. Riders out here seem to be more "legends in their own minds." (no offense to Cali riders w/ skills)

fast9r, you know, your right, i stand corrected, i didn't read his first post, and it was a little inflamatory, so i see your point.I think he was just looking for a good run from someone in the high numbers, but he went about it the wrong way.You also have a point in the rider skill area, most cannot ride as well as others in the twisties,i'm o.k.,not as good as a lot of people, and i'll be the first to admit it.I will tell you this, i'd like to hear the results if you do run him, twisties or straight line.
Thanks for not fussing at me for not reading his first post ( my fault all the way).
Have a good day, and ride safe (still have fun) LOL

Tom

Gixerbike1, thanks for the post. You'll be the first to know if he ever gets back with us and sets something up. All I can do is accept his challenge and come 80% of the way. If I can make the trek from Cali to Indy, he can come the rest. Late.
