Ok I have taken all of the advise into consideration. I will not change or adjust the reading millage, I will note it and treat it as if its zeroed out. If I happen to sell the bike, I will explain the Frankenstein nature of the rebuild process and give both read out mileage and mileage since rebuild. And because of what GSXRFANN said I will be sure to correct the new frame's title to have the proper engine number.

like everyone else said,its illegel and no need to do it if you keep all the paperwork....do you have to change the title to "salvage"? if so,good luck selling it for what its worth,regardless of what was done to it thats usually a big turnoff to anybody looking to buy.

Its wont be salvaged, this was the whole reason for the frame swap. I just dont know what I have to do to get the engine numbers updated.
 
Not to contradict the others, but when it comes to a rebuild depending on how extensive, the mileage is not really considered. Well, maybe Texas laws are different. Let me explain, I rebuilt a camaro. Completely rebuilt motor, trans, rearend, just about everything. I also installed a new gauge cluster. The cluster was a rebuilt one from one of the shops and the mileage was zero. Did I try changing it to read what the old gauge mileage was, no. When the car was sold, I had all the paperwork and explained it had xxxx miles since the rebuild, before the rebuild, it had xxxx miles. On the title, it was not listed as salvage but it had a note that said "not actual mileage". No laws were broken and no problems selling the car. I agree to try to change the mileage reading just to cheat someone is wrong, but to document the mileage, completely rebuild the bike and start off with zero mileage shouldn't be a problem. What if you replace the gauge cluster like I did? Just my

The millage thing is kinda double edge sword. If you only replace something like a gauge cluster you suppose to have it set to the millage of the vehicle. However when titling a vehicle you have the option to omit the millage. At least here in florida. I personally have done this.
 
On my 1994 magna (salvaged, rebuilt by me) the gauge cluster was destroyed, replaced with an aftermarket unit, the DMV and I are the only ones with the actual mileage, the cluster says 60 miles, the title just says salvaged. Thats all they told me they needed and Ca is the worst of the worst on dumb sh!t laws.
