A picture of contrast... What's interesting to note about this photo is while this is an '82 Yamaha Seca 650, my first bike was a '82 Suzuki GS450 & a '82 Suzuki GS850L, distant cousins to this bike. Took that GS850 across America. In a world of the latest hardware, almost nostolgic to see such devotion to an old workhorse like this.
Bikini fairing & cafe racer style mirrors on the Suzuki SV 650
This was also the first day of hunting season in Northern California. Requirements for entry are a pickup. a camoflauge outfit, a 4-wheeler, and a rifle of course. In this fella's case, a Honda Trail 90 in the back.
Since I can't decide which pic I like best, I'll just post both. Interesting study in camera position and using the zoom.
This one is minimal zoom, and good positioning of the subject in the frame. I like the feel of this one. This one still follows that 'Rule of 3' thing. Bike + Road + Background mountain to tell you where we are and set the scene.
This one is a little more personal, slightly different style of pic. Like this one too! Little more emphasis on Ayumi & and the GSXR1000 & its relationship to the road at left.
Mark's ZZR - very clean looking bike. No stickers, stripes, ricky-racer graphics, just plain clean. All business. Kawi actually considers this a sport-touring bike. You do sit pretty upright on it.
And then there's that Busa !! Long, thick and low- built for speed!! The SV650 looks on. Note the covers over the fork tubes. David added those to protect the tubes. By contrast on the Busa, the upside-down fork tubes aren't even exposed.
Another shot of the canyon - very twisty stuff!! They are still dredging for gold in the river to this very day.
Highway 299 - Just plain dreamy. This section nearing Willow Creek was even recently paved. Have to love a great curvy road. But then again, that's all they really have up here!
You meet the nicest people. This time around as we pulled into Willow Creek, a tiny town you can literally see the entire town from any spot along main street- David ran into a bunch of riders he knew. Such a big state like California and ya run into another motorcyclist. Very cool.
Forest Rd 1, aka as Titlow Hill Rd / South Fork Mountain Rd was enshrouded in a chilly fog, the higher we climbed the thicker the fog got. We keep your head in the clouds on a Pashnit Motorcycle Tour.
After climbing into the clouds above (literally), we made our way up in elevation, 4000, 5000 ft came & went. Typically, you can see for miles up here. Today, could barely see 50 ft in front of us. Finally the fog clears on the far southern end, and what does it reveal?
There's this flat spot along Forest Rd 1 where the trees open up, and you'd never know this view was there if you didn't stop and walk up and over the small rise.
As we walked up and looked over, the most amazing sight greeted us...
The pictures don't even begin to capture the grandiose feeling of awe. Those thick clouds are what we had just ridden through, cold, wet, and misty journey that it was... and here atop this mountain was a hole in the clouds.
It was the sort of thing where you looked around for a lawn chair and a good thick book.
