A Little Disappointed..

Jeff355:

I am glad you like the video, my bike is stock other then the slip ons. I don't lower the pressure in my tires, I don't strap it down, and I don't do burn outs. I avoid the water like it's a cop taking radar. I think with my weight and how I am making runs now best I could do is ~10.5s. After I tune it I would think it will be much lower... ECU editing soon...

In other vids I have I found out that if I short shift 1st gear (~10.2 to 10.5 ) I get a lower MPH and a lower 1/4 mile time. Running out first gear I run ~10.8 to 10.9s. The short shifting has kept me in the 10.7 range. I am guessing it is because, I hear a stock busa the timing is retarted in 1st gear. ( please feel free to correct me if I am wrong)

I hope this everyones info helps you, but your best help will be learn as you go. If you can put a video cam on the bike do it... It is a great help .. for me anyways... Also with the mount for cams ... I just got 1 inch wide alum. from menards and bent it to fit... if you want pic's I have them also...

Thanx 1iBandit. That video basically told me what I need to do. Rev er bout 4-5 grand, slip the clutch and make sure im getting full throttle. If your bike sticks, no reason why mine shouldn't considering its stretched. Thanx all you guys 4 all your help. I'll keep ya posted.

1iBandit,

Are you getting wide open throttle by the 60' beam? Are you in a wheelie when you short shift or does the front stay down?

*EDIT* (I see your video now).

Notice how you are reving it up and dumping the clutch which then bogs from 6k - 3k. That is killing your 60 and drive. Also try and keep your body position down from the beginning. Notice how you tuck as soon as you launch. That is throwing a big portion of your weight around and upsetting the chassis...

You need to leave smooth enough to feed the gas without the bog. Also how are you shifting? Even with your weight you should be a LOT faster than 129mph. What mods and what gearing?

The video was the first run of the night, I don't think I was at full throttle, but I am sure working on it.
I have a hard time seeing the light if I lean to far forward, and that is why I have to shift my weight.
My shifting I pull up on the shifter and just touch the clutch. I was shifting at redline or just over, but found I get a lower time if I shift at 10.2 ish.
As for mods, I only have slip on Yana Shiki race tuned cans. Nothing else gearing is stock...

Hope this helps

Dont worry about your result.
A buddy of mine was on the track with a turbo and first run was 13.xx and at the end of day he was lucky with his 11.5 ,the horses need a lot of guts.

Maybe the track was uncomfortable for you , and 3 run didnt help at all :banghead:
I started last year on a well prepared track and all i got was 10.7 one time only. Everybody wanted to help me and gave me hints do this do that..............at the result that all my runs were different between 10.7 and 11.7. and i was playing around.

Practice is all

I
I never saw somebody going to the track for the first time with a stock high short Busa hitting a 10.1 , but saw many (like me fighting the 11 ???)
Maybe they have done many passes on other bikes ,and it was first time on a busa

If your BT is worn out go to maybe 20PSI and leave it this way ,burn it , to get a better grip. Try to launch as you feel good at the beginning.
A clutch mod helps to stop bocking the bike.
And you say "ear-shifting"......maybe a lot to early. Thats what your topspeed tells. Even with a slow "roll-on" you will see the 130 with the busa.
Have a look at your tach.

I understand you well ,and i think a lot more gys here feel like you ,and are only afraid of the drag-gods  to ask whats wrong.
Theres nothing wrong ,you only need seat time ,so go to another track and try again.

And there is a big positive aspect:thumbsup: ,you will find seconds when going on ,not only tenths :beerchug: .Look this way and you will become adicted :welcome:

I ran the 10.1 on my 5th time to the track... I have raced some on the streets so that might of helped. My first pass ever was a 11.3 then second was a 10.7... I stay around a 10.2 to 10.6 most of the time...just practice.
