A proposition...

My suggestion Shreveport LA. Me and a bunch of my buddies are riding there the 1st week of march. Actually the 1st thru 3rd. Anyone interested in coming down? Would be a great place to get together and you can do lots of gambling too. By the way I bet all my buds that I can get to LA at least one hour before they do. Easy money, the closest competition is an R1. We're all cops so don't worry bout tickets if you want to come along.

Definitely appreciate the offer, but not looking for a "tag along" event. Im talking HUGE. I want something akin to Sturgis. A Sportbike version of Sturgis. We need to pool our resources and get this thing going.

First thing is a date. Any suggestions?

Way Cool, Panther! I was just talking to my dealer today abuot how I have found myself a part somthing larger than myself or my Busa just by buying the thing! I've had other cool Jap bikes before, but this is Very Harlyesque! I was havig vauge thoughts about somthing along these lines when I saw your post...count me IN! I suggest the Mardi Gras or somthing like that, but I will go to "The Busa Rally" where ever you want to hold it. I like grumpy's invite ok, but who else has Ideas? This could be Huge! I believe we are too competitive and pugnacious as a group to get the cooperation neccesary for this to evolve, buy I've been wrong before and will invest in this Idea dispite my missgivings in regards to the success of the Rally. Lets Rok! Let me know what we can do to help...

Hakone !! Unbelieveable great mountain views, superb twisties, great expressway access to get there, even got a monthly magazine that updates you for where the speed cameras are located, what times they are switched on, where the police patrol etc.

Well, this post is off to a slow start, but HAPO, yer on board. Too late to back out. We are gonna make this the biggest and fastest bike gathering we possibly can. Some initial criteria:

1) THE VENUE -
The venue needs to be a location that compliments the bike's attitude and style. Somewhere sexy, bold and definitely unconventional. It would be nice if the location could be in the middle of the US, but unfortunately, I dont think its gonna happen. My inital thought was Las Vegas. Several reasons come to mind. Not only does the city share the busa's nonconformist attitude, it is a place many people would visit besides going to bike rally. The weather is also condusive to such an event. Imagine a couple hundred busa's driving down the strip. I get goosebumps thinking about it.

2) THE EVENTS -
Food and Entertainment are a must. Perhaps we could convince some notable band to play, or maybe thats wishful thinking. It would be awesome if we could get enough support, perhaps even from Suzuki and aftermarket manufacturers to have booths/staff on hand to discuss with us, the BUSA PUBLIC, current issues and developments which WE as the consumers can finally have direct input on. I think that the viewers of this site, like the guy from DRAGBIKE.COM, has contacts, also Turbo Rick who has a little experience in promoting events, anyone else who has a speed shop or whatever to contribute. Other events im thinking are a busa shootout. The fastest bikes against eachother with only the rider's skills determining the outcome. A ride perhaps out to the hoover dam or whatever, or down the strip. The lights of Vegas would look beautiful reflecting off the busa's.

3) THE PARTICIPANTS -
All hayabusa owners, and anyone else who wants to be surrounded by the most outspoken, brotherly and incredible group of bike owners ive had the privelege of being a part of. HAPO nailed it on the head when he said owning a busa makes you a part of something much BIGGER. I think you all feel the comeraderie of this experience. Our families, our friends, everyone can come see what we obsess about day in and day out, a bike that consumes us and stirs a passion deep inside to find ourselves every day riding that bike.

4) THE EXHIBITORS -
Aftermarket companies showcasing the latest and greatest Busa and sport bike parts.

5) THE COST -
Prhibitive im sure, but damnit...cant we think of something guys. Im hoping that my post is hitting a nerve somewhere in some of you to get off your duff and help me make this happen.

Dirty Pete - Come on man. I KNOW you can see this whole event unfold in your head. Work with me on this, your opinion counts here more than most.

Chase - If yer reading this, I know you dont know me, but this site shows me that you understand the emotion of this bike and what lays beneath the surface. The heart of the busa is its rider and every busa owner feels it in every other.

The rest of you reading this post. Post something in reply. Tell me Im crazy, or hey lets give it a shot, or go to hell. Something to show me that you put this idea through the cycles in your head and that it atleast got a glance by you. This could REALLY happen if we just try.

It all sounds great, but we would need a place that would be biker friendly, such as Sturgis. Places like Las Vegas and New Orleans are already too popular for other events. Maybe one of those ghost towns out west would do.

I'm in. Like Sturgis you will have to do it in the summertime for the biggest group participation. I know me and several other people don't ride in the winter due to the climate and the fact that their bikes are in a 1,000 pieces. I always thought it would be cool to meet the other people on this board. If not a national event at least it could be regional.

Ok, ghost town...hmmm....thinking maybe Tombstone, AZ. Wyatt Earp, the rogue law man (FC you might research him a little), and 100 years later, Hayabusa the rogue motorcycle. Interesting concept. We shall ponder it further.

Wow great idea,....could'nt temt you guys to Australia for the World Olympics mid 2000, for a Busa rally????

Australia has got to be one of the best places for bike riding. The Northern Territory (state) don't even have SPEED LIMITS!! Lot'sa baron desert land with nothing but asphalt thru red soil.

Sounds like a fine proposition. West is best. But don't let the date conflict with World Superbike at Laguna Seca.

How about Austin Texas? It is the gateway to the twisty hill country and we do have 6th. street to party on afterwards. Climate is fair most of the year except for late July and August. I'm for it, is this a great bike to rally with or what??!!!!!!!!!

I think I like Grumpycop's suggestion! I'm not into gambling (unless I know I will win) but I sure do like the part about no tickets.
I can't image what it would be like to ride the Busa the way it was meant to be ridden without my "cop sensors" on high alert and concentrate only on riding fast and safe.

It really burns my hide to hear cops brag about being able to ride as fast as they like on Sunday then arrest the guy on Monday for doing the same thing. Like the old saying "Pratice what you preach man" but in Grumpy cops view I surmise it is "do as I say, not as I do!"

Please forgive. I forgot myself...I agree with cbxchris, Daytona would be excellent. The guys at Crystals will talk about the worlds largest gathering of the worlds fastest bikes for years to come! If I am lucky my red and gray 2000 will be delivered by then!

Nope Falcon its not "do as i say, not as I do" I don't write tickets unless someone is acting like a complete idiot. No double standard here. Be polite and you get a warning. I get paid the same either way.

All right, here is the mother of all ideas. What we need is this. The biggest Hayabusa event the world has ever seen.
I figure we have well over a couple hundred busa owners that pop in here from time to time, and at LEAST several dozen hard core who are always posting. Imagine the press a gathering of every color of the most beautiful bike ever created would recieve. I think that we have the man power and the intellect to pull off something like this. Even if it is a giant Hayabusa barbecue or even if the event became like Sturgis. I realize this idea is a lofty one, but great things start small. Lets see what we can do to come up with an organization or plan to get this started and running. Could be a great place for manuf. to showcase new products. All sorts of fun things could happen. The ball starts here.

Ok, now THAT'S more like it. I was worried for a minute you guys wouldnt take me seriously. An update:

IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON ATTENDING, PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO:

~ w-h-o-a@home.com ~
ONLY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
1) NAME
2) CITY, STATE
3) PREFERRED TIME FOR EVENT
4)ANY USEFUL CONTRIBUTION OF INFORMATION YOU CAN PROVIDE. i.e. organization assistance, financial assistance, contact assistance. ANYTHING.

Also, I have put in a call to AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORPORATION to their Public Relations department. If any of you want to call as well to give support for this idea the phone number is (714) 996-7040 EXT. 321. Maybe if we flood her with enough inquiries or requests she'll realize we are serious about this. I am registering a domain name "W-H-O-A.ORG" (thanks to John). This will be the Worldwide Hayabusa Owners Association. Perfect name if you ask me cause the bike does necessitate a "whoa!" when you see it. I will be compiling the data collected on Email into a database and will publish the results either here, or on the new site ill be making. We ca see where everyone is and where the best date and location will be for everyone. With your support maybe we can make this happen before the end of 2000. Thanks so much.
