BP I'd love to see an event like this pulled off. I tried a less ambitious version of your idea months ago and met with little enthusiasm. But you seem so committed you might just be able to make something happen.
My thoughts (some of these suggestions may already have been made in one form or another):
If we want guys from the northern States and Canada to ride in, the event has to be in the warm months, but outside the prime vacation period when people have family commitments. mid-June or early September would be best.
The event should be a free standing Hayabusa event. If we connect it to something larger like Daytona it'll get swallowed up by crowds and cops.
If it's mainly for members of this forum, the location should be decided after finding out who lives where (we have have a thread on that somewhere), then locating so as to be in the most interesting venue that's closest to the maximum number of members.
Each region would organize a ride to the event location i.e. there's probably about 10 members who could meet at Toronto and ride down together. We would then hook up with another group at Detroit, and so on until we reach the event with about 20 or 30 guys.
If we keep it a strictly Suzuki event, we can get Suzuki U.S. to toss money, publicity and resources at it. They'll co-operate for sure, although to what extent....? This would suggest opening it up to all Suz sport bike owners.
Alternatively, we could make it a big bore speed fest by inviting, via their forums, owners of ZX12s, XX's, and R1s. This idea would make for nasty but friendly competition.
Good luck Black Panther! As I said once before when I was trying to organize something or other, getting this group to agree on ANYTHING is like asking a saloon full of drunk, heavily armed cattle rustlers to choose the best looking whore
