A Trackday Fubar..

Glad you're ok. Man, you must have been moving pretty good to do that much damage. Better luck next trip.

Darn it, incidents happen! You have a great attitude about it, why don't you post a list of the needed replacement parts you need.....we all could come up with stuff. Doyle
ps after the smoke clears and you can approach it calmly!

Tom, you are totally cool enough to hang out with me at the track should ever our paths cross. Anybody who goes through that and gets back out there to tear it up for three more sessions is my kind of rider!

+1 on getting a track bike, it's nice having a bike that you don't have to worry about financially. When I'm out on the track the only things on my mind are:
A. getting through the next corner.
B. getting around who ever is in front of me.

...bah got to quit thinking about riding, summer is pretty much over here :(

Glad you're ok.. And since this one is now 'prepared' for track days for a while (as not a cheap fix), start investing in to a new busa that's already fixed for street driving.. 'hint'. I'm hoping to pull a stunt like that myself.. haha.

I feel your pain Tom. Been there and done that numerous times. And,,,,,,,,,, it wasn't any more fun the last time than it was the first time.

Yes sir I do... I will be bringing it to the Bash (that was our agreement :) )! And thank you forthe assist back in April!

you still got that right side of mine? send it along, looks like we have someone that can use it

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'll know in the next couple of day what all it'll take to fix it.
Was looking at a couple of parts places yesterday (not Zuk directly) and the nose and tail plastics alone were right at $1000. I was hoping for maybe a $1500 or so bill, but looking more and more like closer to $2500.:unhappy:

Sorry to see, but glad to hear you are not hurt. Trackbike the way to go.

Rode 3 more sessions.
Unplugged all the wiring and stripped the busted nose off, and went out like this..

Yes, they alternate the lap direction ever so often. Basically, makes two tracks out of one. CCW is the "normal" direction, but the other time I was here, they ran it CW. So, it was a totally new track in the different direction.
When I came back out for the first "after crash" session, it was pretty shakey, no confidense at all. But by the next one, and a small adjustment to the tire pressure, it was starting to come back to me.
By the third (and last) session, everything was getting real close to back on line again.
Since the bike is broken for street usage for a bit, I'll probably hit another trackday before the season is over this fall.
I'm not easily discouraged.
Big Kudos to you man :beerchug: I could never go back out on the track after wadding a beauty like that up :banghead: Thats why my street bikes never see the track. If I ever get a track urge I'll get a track only bike thats expendable, and I have no problem crashing, not one of my pristine street machines......just couldn't bear that ::9

From the looks of those pics Tom...looks like you already now have a dedicated track bike on your hands.

If it was me...I'd just reverse thought process and start looking for a new street rider.

Now I don't feel bad after seeing yours. Hate that happened to you. I rashed mine up pretty good on Monday but didn't crack any of the fairings. Hope to get mine on the road by this weekend
