Adjusting HID's on GenII

I almost never ride at night ( for safety) but I got stuck late at work the other night and ended up riding home in the dark. I do not notice any difference when I go from lowbeam and add highbeam with my HID's. Bulbs are all working fine, but I think maybe my highbeam is not adjusted correctly. When I hit the high, I ought to be able to see WAAAY out.....?

Just looked at my copy of the maint manual (linky posted in another thread) and it shows the adjuster. What would be a good adjustment?

I had the same thing when I went to the HID. Stock bulb was adjusted pretty good, but the HID was WAY too high. THat is why you are not seeing the highbeam.

Take the black piece out from under the nose (like 6 pushpins) and get yourself a 10mm socket on a 1/4 drive ratchet (3/8 will work too)

Under the nose, on the bottom RH side (as you sit on the bike) is a 10mm hex. Turn your light on and aim it at a wall and tighten or loosen the adjuster to bring the light down. It may take you a couple trys to get it perfect.

The high and low beam are all one adjustment now

You may be too high on your high beam. Because the Gen II housing requires both bulbs to adjust at the same time, you wont get both pointed where you want them because they are not independent. You have to pick one, adjust the housing so your high beam is right and your low beam will be too high, adjust your housing so the high beam is right and your high beam will be off. Sorry bro, not much else you can do. Also make sure the bulb is seated flush in the housing.

I've got a feeling I've got something wrong in the seating....I dunno where the high beam is; when I put it up against my garage door, I still don't see it. Gonna have to take a night pic and post it...I don't want to blind people coming (unless I hit the high beam, that is)...

I just went out there and briefly looked at it. You know how, in the low beam there is a 'band' of light near the bottom? That's where my high beam is, in the middle of that "band" if that makes any sense....

It makes sense, your high beam is aimed too low. At least that is what I am seeing in my mind. If you raise it up for your high beam to be any good, your low beam will be too high.

Mine shines up in the trees when on high beam. I am use to it but I do see a difference when I go to high. I am thinking about trying to make some type of adjuster this winter. If it works out I will post the process.

Good luck Keith. this is a Suzuki screw up. I fought with mine until I shimmed one of them.. Gen 1 had separate adjustments for low and high beam. Gen 2 does not.

That's a great post Flatland, but definitely outside my skill set. UncleSteve, did you follow the proceedure Flatland outlined or did you do something else. I'm just glad to know I didn't do something wrong on the initial install. HID on Low is still better than OEM on high...
