After 500 miles, thinkin new purchase

im looking to get a Harley roadglide to add to the shop. the new Golkwing, Victory Vison, and 1600 BMW are pretty good land yachts too.

good luck in your search. you can never have too many bikes!:rulez::laugh:

Ive put all aspects in perspective. I own the busa. No payments and my insurance is 20$ a month roughly so adding another bike will not break my bank. Ive done several things to make busa more comfy but im also not the healthiest person. Im 5'6'' with short arms and have been battling back issues, leg issues, and starting to get carpel tunnel from work.

All things considered id be comfy on a cruiser for 500 miles and i see it as y put my body in a less adequate riding position for that long? Busa TO ME is fun for windy roads and short trips. Cant see myself taking another 500 mile trip on it.

So back to original <?>, any more thoughts on good cruiser or more info on the m109?

I have a VTX1800f.I'm 6inches taller than you and have minor back problems.Had to have pull back risers and riders backrest for even a 200 mile ride. And I'm tell'n ya that 109 will tear you apart in pain at 5"ft 6" with the problems you're having.A sport tourer is an ideal riding position for back problems.A little Yamaha FZ6 would probably be heaven on a long ride at your height, something along those lines.
When it comes to back pain and riding, you may just have forget about looks and stick to function if you want to ride long distance. What your body wants and not your eyes.

+1 on the fz6, had a lot of seat time on one and at the time i had just injured my lower back and it was the only bike that i could ride for 30+ min and still fell ok.

Do yourself a favor before you buy and look at a Yamaha Raider.

A Harley Road Glide is a tinker toy compared to a 109 in riding position.I've rode them both.Harleys feel small to me.Don't let the size fool ya.One of those models could work for ya.

More worried about seat hieght. I sat ib 109 and could get both feet on ground where im comfortable, couldnt on the roadglide or goldwing..

Guys dont get me wrong i like the 109 but not deadset on it. Im lookin for more comfortable long distance and its lookin like the 109 isnt my option. But not gonna get an eyesore for comfort either

What about a Suzuki Bandit 1250? I had 2 of them before the Busa and that's a really great 2nd bike. You can get one with saddle bags & ABS for around $9K and it's a pretty good all around bike. It is a utility bike and there aren't any bells and whistles but it's comfortable and the engine is big fun.

Ok so ive narrowed my search down to 3 bikes and have a few more questions for you guys.

HD Fat boy Lo
Besides the obvious HD issues with vibrating your pants off at rest, I havent heard to many bad things about this bike besides the pricetag for aftermarket parts.

Raider S
has anyone experienced any major problems? Its a pretty basic looking bike, nothing fancy (which is ok with me) but im having hard time finding allot of info from riders.

2011 M109r Black/Orange
After everything you guys have been saying bad about this bike I started doing research to find out how ppl solved these issues. It seems allot of ppl put a 2" riser on the handlebars which they said made a more confortable riding position bringing handlebars closer to rider. Has anyone tried this on the 109 yet?
Also all the transmission and driveshaft issues have been "resolved" with the 2011 or so suzuki says. There is still a 2nd gear problem which some ppl have done a mod to fix this. Not finding allot of info but it seems almost like they just moved the shifter closer so it allowed for easier shifting causing less issues??? i dunno, any thoughts on this?

As always you guys are awesome and the knowledge base on this forum exceeds any information you can find on the internet which is why I come to you for dumb questions and not salesman or other forums where you cant trust anyone.

Honest opinions coming here, be prepared...

The Raider is ugly. Just plain ugly. The tail section makes me want to vomit, and what's with those pipes ???

The 109 is a beast, beautiful, sounds AMAZING stock. You will get more head turns, compliments, and all around thumbs up riding the 109 than you will any other bike you've ever owned. I never had ANY transmission problems with mine. I did have some clutch shutter, but you need to realize the torque of this bike, and realize it ISN'T a sportbike. Once people realize that, it gets better. TONS of power, awesome looks, and if you are really worried about tranny issues, get a warranty.
109 Hands down... :beerchug:

I had A M109r as well. Go to the M109riders.com forum and you will get all the information you will ever want to know about this bike. Good luck

I looked at the M109, Raider, and VMAX. They all had three things in common.... no wind protection, no storage, and no range (small tanks). Wound up buying a Road King and love it.

Now everyone can bash me for buying a Harley :moon:

 thats a first for hearing that one. Honestly the main reason I liked it was becuase I could sit on it comfy without having to modify it. Wasnt aware of social stigma:whistle:

But responses like this is exactly what im looking for.

Thanks Bots.

I won't bash you for buying a Harley. I'll bash you for buying a Road King. Why not a Street Glide??

What about a V-Rod?

looks like the road king and Nomad have similar configurations. The 1700cc series has (5) different configurations.
classic - bare
classic LT- shield, leather bags
Nomad - too much to list
Vaquero - all blacked out. frame mounted fairing, stereo
Voyager - adds trunk, optional abs, full tourer, etc...

the point is, there is one to fit anyones needs. Good prices, warranties, mileage, resale, big aftermarket, reliable, and more...

very much worth consideration if looking for big vtwin

I do like that stratoliner but I like the wind hitting my chest and face, not sure how i feel about that windshield/fairing looking thing in the front. I would feel like its blocking too much air for me.
