I'm listening. Trying to do the 11K stuff, I was shocked and thought about a good reason to go with something else on the way home.

What should I have done

Well looky here.. a nudder one.. Its a great place now isn't it..

Save that receipt and get one from another member that's offering one to ya. I'd rather pay $5 and say "thanks" than spend $40 and not walk right for a week!

Compared to a dealer I thought 37.91 wasn't bad.

i have a free stock filter sitting on my shelf now, again key word is free with about 100 baby miles on it.

i bought my k/n for $47.00 on ebay new & I still have my o.e. filter that I pulled at 175 miles sitting on the shelf in my shop.if anyone wants free let me know

No offense to anyone on this site, but IMHO when you decide to spend the money for a high performance vehicle you also need to resign yourself to higher than 'normal' maintenance costs, either because of frequency due to high performance forces (tires), or because of high technology/design (air filter construction includes cover). What troubles me is that you can scratch the paint on a Hayabusa by staring at it. My Joe Rocket nylon saddlebags scratched the paint off.

I bought a used BMC street filter, cleaned it, and saved my stocker in case I sell the bike for another Busa.

I'm keeping my stocker too. I'll pop it back on if I buy a future model year Busa AND my BMC fits the new model. But I do soooooooo like that Ducati 1098S.

I noticed that on my 300 miler yesterday with a new filter I got 5 mpg more than I had been getting. At over three bucks a gallon (any) gain is welcomed.
