All of you guys using the 007Nick map, read this

It began as that.
Frank, correct on all counts but I want to see the results on the street.
Dynoing is essential but sometimes ya gotta ride to see what really works.

Gixxer1300 must be thinking of fuel cooler to cool the fuel prior to injetion.
I dont believe that he will see the gains he is claiming at max you will see 2bhp but its going to be hard to see in a hot dyno room with limited air flow.

Sorry Bruce, you are wrong,my next project has nothing to do with a Kool can, vapor lock is not really a problem with the Busa.Running an aftermarket fuel pump will address the problem of keeping th fuel pump cooler. The 007Nick map may not work for everyone, you also need to adjust the mid and high buttons while on the dyno.A good setting is the mid set 2% above 0 and the high set 4% above 0.This map should work on any Busa that has a Akrapovic,Yosh,Muzzy and a fully Modded Airbox.

Nick

OMEGA, if you get your bike dialed on the dyno your going to have results on the street.

My maps not a 100% yet and I've been doing a little work to it since I last left the dyno and things are going pretty good.

I've played around with maps made for 1360's from KWS, Orient Express, and Lee Shirts. The only one that came close was the one from Lee But it's even 6hp lower then the one I have.
Reason for that is Motorhead, he is the most determined person I've ever met in the industry. He wants to go untill he can get to that 100% or at least close. We both weren't happy that We had to quit when We did.

Playing with these pc2 on the dyno can be very addicting!
You roll your bike in feeling like probably pretty close, but when you start bringing your percentages around closer to where they belong and see hp popping up in places you wouldn't expect...thats when it's fun!
And then you get to take out on the street and discover that you have performance like never before. A hole different bike.

I can't wait to find out what the mapping limit is on My 1360!

Nick is exactly right. That's what I did, mine only wanted 1 bar up mid and high and she was happy, saw 2 hp for it. Went up another and lost 1.6, so I put it back. Happy Busa. Bottome line is so what they all came off the same assembly line, each has it's own personality combined with atmospheric conditions, so no way is any 1 map going to drop into bikes nationwide and produce peak HP. Gotta tweak her. Spend a lil $ on some dyno pulls, you won't be disappointed.

Nick, why are you adding fuel through the buttons and not in the map itself?

You said something about raising the high side 4%, surely not everything from 6,000rpm to red-line & 0% throttle to 100% throttle needs an exact 4% does it?

e-mail me....I have something else for you to try that should raise ya another 2hp.

Pete, whats up with the 16/42 setup.
Im hesitating. Will I miss the top end?
Will I like it?

The dyno is an indicator, nothing more than a tool. Results on the dyno do not always translate to results on the street.
Only efforts that have proven themselves on the street work on the street.

You are correct Frank, evertime I go to the dyno I find a little more horsepower, guys around here call me the Mad Busa Scientist.Gasabusa,I'm in Orlando Florida at sea level.Humidity here kills horsepower but high baromic pressure helps it.As you know the Fuel injected Suzuki Sportbikes work backwards when you install an aftermarket exhaust system, you have to lean the fuel ratio. It goes against everything that was learned on carburated bikes. The ECM on the Busa changes injector duration everytime the gears are changed, the higher the gear the more the duration. In 6th gear at 100% throttle the duration long to compensate for the Ramair.I most cases it too rich, that is why on the 100% throttle value on the PC2 you can go -16 and see an increase in hp because the bike was too rich to begin with. You can go +4 when to value is negative or you can adjust the high negative values on the map. They both acomplish the same thing but it's quicker to set the low/mid/high buttons.I have some other maps that I will e mail you.Pete, the 007Harv is a good map.Yesterday when we dynoed I had another 99 Busa with almost the same setup as mine, the only difference was he had a stock airbox with a BMC filter.I installed my Airbox on his bike along with the 007Nick and he picked up 7 hp,I then installed the 007Harv and he gained 2 more hp.I tried the 007Harv map in my bike and lost 4 horsepower. We had 2 bikes with the same map, same exhaust in the same conditions and one bike didnt respond the same as the other.Use what map works best but you need to try several.

Keep it coming nick, your just starting to scratch the surface. You need a laptop to get really proficient at altering those tables.
Once you reach that point, sky's the limit.

Lofty A, if your working with old equiptment and some carburated bike you might be right.
But I can see you have no idea what it takes to work with todays technoligy! Maps should be tuned to ware you never have to take them off the zero's.
As soon as you do you've probably messed more up in that rpm range then you've helped.

I'm sure your looking to get the most performance possible out of your money, right?

Why is it that EVERYBODY thats been on the dyno tuneing their pc2 has ended up with a better running bike? Dirty Pete being the most recent.

Sooner or later others will get wise and get a taste of the action.

But I guess there will always be the ones that play the "hey, let me try your map game"? And these guys will always be asking themselfs if thier really getting everything they can out of thier bikes.

Some care.... Some don't.

You got me all wrong. I know that a map that might work great on your bike will not be perfect on my bike, even if we have the exact same modifications.
What I am saying is that real world tuning cannot be replaced by dyno time. The dyno does not take into consideration a pressurized air box, loading the bike against relative wind and a number of other factors that cannot be duplicated sitting still inside a closed room hooked up to a computer.
Do I believe in using a dyno? Yes, its a valuble tool, but it is not the final word in going fast.
Hell, I wish it was, it would be easier that way.

I have a laptop Omega, you are correct,I'm just scratching the surface when it comes to remapping.I have already done some changes to certain rpm ranges.I added 4% to the high on my bike and it picked up from 4000 to Redline Frank. It will be no problem adding 4% to a certain area that I need it but right now I'm not looking for an exact map do to variables that will occur with other people using the map.I think a little flexibilty is needed for tuning.Just like Lanta,go up one level and gain 2 horsepower,go up one more level and lose 1.6,that saves alot of dyno time.I will go through each rpm range one step at a time the next time I'm on the dyno.

If it doesn't run right everything else is a waste of time.

Who do you know that tunes their bike for a head wind?

I may tune My bike for the type of fuel I'm useing or the compression but a head wind?

Yea it would be great if we could tune for ramair.

Why does he need a laptop? Theres a PC hooked to the dyno.(or should be)

Understanding how to adjust the air/fuel mixture is what needs to be known when your on the dyno with a pc2.

You have to have a air/fuel ratio graph to show the readings. If you don't your just taking stabs in the dark.

This graph shows you which rpm's are running rich or lean.

Look at My dyno sheet. At the bottom you'll see the ratio chart I'm talking about.

Look close and you'll see two waves at 6,500 and 8,500 with some at 10,500. This is what My bike had when we started, and the straight lines through there are what we had when we finished.
If you look real close you can see that the line is not perfectly straight. This means theres still room for performance.
Just straightening out the line somewhat gained Me 6.1hp.

There is still more to get out of it!

If we would have had one more day?????
