Main bennie for me is that they fight Stupid Laws (like baning bikes from roads but let cars go- Companies not covering you by health insurance because you ride a bike, etc ) and going after people who KILL Motorcycle Riders with their car and Walk ( Even Drunks only get minor fines

in some cases ) ! They at least bring it to NATIONAL attentiion ! Plus the membership (OK $5 bucks extra) in joining Helping Hands. People all over the US that will help you with your bike if you break down or have some problem,  with just a phone call

I have heard that State Farm will give an additional discount if you have a membership with AMA, if this is true it will pay for itself...
