Another Failing on Palomar (Photographed)

i think he read "boat" shoes as "bike"

seriously good to see it wasn't worse.

Rick sets-up there every weekend Saturday and Sunday. Inevitably, it's just a matter of time, before he sees one of these.

He sells the pix on his website. Bicyclists, cars, and motorcycles all pay for his talent...

Here's one of me... Additionally, if you didn't catch it in my Ride Pix 31JAN09 thread, Rick is going to be the photographer at the Stampede this coming July. Great guy; very talented!

Lookin' great SCAR!! Looks like a beautiful day for sure. Speaking of Palomar, The AMGEN Tour of California will be using the South Grade for the final stage of the race (bicycle). Floyd Landis' Tour de France suspension is finally lifted and word has it that Lance Armstrong may ride the Tour of California, as well, for his warmup to the tour. I wanna try doing Palomar on a bicycle too.

Thanks, Ryan! I'd try Pally on a bicycle, too, if they'd close it off to motorized traffic. Can you imagine what it'd be like to come down the mountain without worry of oncoming traffic? YEE - EFFING - HAH!!!

In 2004 Floyd Landis went up the tight side of Palomar mountain in 15 minutes. Takes Lamb 8 minutes on his missile. These guys who ride bicycles for a living are super human. 15 minutes! That's ridiculous.

Lamb has been riding this road for 20 years. Seen it all and heard about it all. Seen guys absolutely forget to turn the bike and ride right up the side of the hill. Target fixation at it's finest. Seen guys get taken out going up the hill by some dummy losing control going down and falling on a right hander sending their bike and rider across lanes of traffic right into the rider in front of me. Seen a guy sitting right in the middle of the road, bike nowhere to be seen. Seen cars on fire, and Ferrari's racing, with no regard for the yellow lines. Countless stories of the Palomar mountain water trucks doing u-turns in the middle of a corner, with fatal results, not just to motorcycles but car drivers too.

???

What is the status of the rider?
Any injuries sustained in the highside or the 25 foot slide down the mountain?

How did he get out of the ravine? airlift? his own two feet?

I don't doubt that one bit. One of the guys who owns the Local Bike Shop was out riding some road that started out as a 2% grade and eventually ends as a 17% towards the top saw Floyd buzz right past him, with a scooter behind as wingman, and said Landis must've been doing over 30 mph and musclin' it all the way to the top and keeping a strong/fast cadence at the same time. Those guys ARE UNREAL!!

I have been photographed by Rick on that corner before! Only difference is....I didn't crash
