Another Gage Issue

I have an 07 Busa that has just developed a gage issue. Bike has been stored for a while after surgery. It has been on a tender to keep battery up. I went to start it up the other night and noticed that all the gages are stuck. Tack at about 6200, speedo at aprox 80 mph, fuel shows full and temp is all the way up. Didn't start bike, checked battery with multi-meter, it is at about 12.9 volts off of the tender. I tried the reset procedure, nothing happened, disconnected the battery, still nothing. I think the gages moved up and stuck when I turned the key on, (didn't see it happen).

Bike only has 4200 miles on it, I was going to clean it up and sell, (can't ride it any more due to spinal surgery).

Can anyone think of any other possible cause or things to check before I try to find another instrument cluster?

I appreciate any help.

If the bike is in neutral and the temp gauge is showing full hot Then the emergency switch is on.
Not saying it will fix it but try it again with the emergency switch off.
If nothing happens then unplug the connector behind the speedometer and repeat a few times as sometimes
when a bike sits for a long time a connection can go bad.

If none of that works then it's probably cheaper to get yours fixed then buying a used replacement.
I have a 05 unit I could sell you if you decide to go that route.

Thanks for the tips, and the repair source. I'll give the fix a try, might get lucky.

I appreciate the help!

Maybe a twist to the situation, Tried to start the bike the other night. I had drained tank and put in fresh fuel since it had been sitting up for a while. She spun over fine but wouldn't hit. Found the Fuse for Fuel was bad and replaced. As soon as I turned on the key again, my gauges (speedo, and tachometer moved a little further to the right and re-froze). The fuse blew instantly and I didn't hear the fuel pump. I know more diagnostics are need now. Should I check for a fuel pump issue, naked wire, or could the gauges be causing this behavior. I know it is a short , but Electronics are not my strong suit at all,
Any suggested first steps.

Should be easy to check if it's your gauges. Just unplug them and see if it blows another fuse. If it does you know it's not in your cluster. I would be willing to bet your short is in your fuel system, sence that is the fuse that is blown.

You were right nosbig, I unplugged the cluster put in another 10amp fuse and about 2 seconds after I turned on the key the fuse popped. I'll have to dig a little deeper checking for naked wires, fp relay, and finally the fuel pump. I do have a wiring diagram in my Clymer book to help trace the path.

Thanks

Sound like you have mice that have chewed the harness some where. Start inspecting the harness completely. Im sure you will find some chew marks some where!

Didn't find any chewed wires unfortunately. I finally took it to the Dealer, and they told me the fuel pump was bad causing the fuse to pop.
Looking at either a used or aftermarket pump. Should I go ahead and replace the fuel sending unit now?
