Any fitness experts out there?

  • In my experience, bulking up muscle mass isn't a tough formula to figure out, it's more the discipline/priority/time you put into it.

  • Education on your physical body composition and overall diet will make your effort more effective. It's really a lifestyle, not easy to balance that out, for me anyway.

  • I have to hand it to Jet Li, from time I have gotten to know him, he's a Pro- eating soup and salad, when the rest of us are eating anything not movin'.
Hope it works out for ya! Go get a set set of dumbbells for while your watching TV, works for me.

There is no secret to losing weight and being incredibly fit. Simply drinks lots of water, eat healthy, and workout consistently.

There is no better answer to getting into the best shape of your life in the shortest period of time as with P90X. Tony Horton is the answer

In Jan 2009 i was 150lbs leaving boot camp. I remembered i weighed myself again in October of 2009 and i was near 190.
I think i gained most of my weight in the 2 months straight, about August to October of 2010, i went to the gym 3-4 times a week for an hour. Just by using a protein supplement and working out i gained the weight on. Gaining muscle is the quickest way to gain weight. I keep alot of protein in my diet (lots of milk and meats) and didnt lose a single pound when i broke my leg 6 months ago and I still retained all my strength for the most part besides in my leg i broke.

Lift hard and heavy, 8 meals a day. 1000 calories each(clean). grilled chicken, LEAN beef, fish. Oatmeal, potatos, broccoli, asparagus. Also, an orange with every other meal helps. I had the same issues when I first started to workout, I was a very hard gainer. 8000 calories seems like alot and you will probably hate food, but it works. @ 18 I was 6'0" and 170lbs, now 6'0" and 220 with about 15% bodyfat.

Unreal! I wish I could eat 8K calories a day. I have trouble just getting in 4,500. And I hate food at even that low amount!!

To anyone taking protein supplements/shake, drink one before bed. Or eat high protien low fat small meal, like a can of tuna. You don't build muscle in the gym, you build it when you're asleep. If you wake up hungry, your body has already self canabolized(occurs quickly after a workout too)using what it needs from undamaged muscles to repair the ones you worked out.
Burning fat is easiest when you first awaken, do your cardio immediately(15 to 20 min is a good starting point), your body will burn it's fat store first. Then eat a healthy breakfast!
I was always a hard gainer with a high metabolism, this helped me go from 5'10" 125lbs at 18, to over 180lbs at 23, at 33 today I have retained most all of it(173 lbs). I now have skinnier legs and a bigger upper body due to lifting limits from a back injury:laugh:and now I'm 5'9"

Reread his post, he wants to GAIN weight.

Yeah, I missed that. (It was, like, 3AM when I posted.)

OK, if you want to gain weight, you need to eat more and train properly.
I bought Jason Ferruggia's book, "Muscle Gaining Secrets", followed his training program and went from 72kg to 97kg within 8 months. (I'm 5'9", so to be 97kg/213lbs at that height is pretty solid!)

How To Build Muscle and Gain Weight Fast - Top Mass Building System

I can honestly recommend this book. I trained for 45 minutes a day, four days per week. That was all. The rest was simply a matter of getting the right nutrition.

I doubt your gains were from that fools book, his site reads like the very companies and magazines he's bashing. For the OP, skip that link that has unexpected pop-ups and find FREE info on bodybuilding.com - its the best source of decent info I've found. It also has forums that can give you motivation/real world results. I'm sure there are other sources, but I wouldn't pay for this information.

All the articles and books lead to a few simple truths and rules to follow, which have pretty much been alluded to here. Eat well, eat often, train hard and for < 1 hr, sleep, and repeat. Results will vary and there are NO miracles, no miracle creams, no miracle pills, only miracle injections aka anabolic steroids. Good luck, have fun.

Oh btw: steroids aren't really a miracle either, they tend to come with a few nasty side-effects, most notably (to me, since the others are short term and reversible) is heart disease. Don't wanna make it look like steroids are the answer..

:beerchug:

I just want to thank everyone again for the information. I was able to chow down about 4200 calories yesterday (mixed bean soup with chicken is pretty damn good), which I thought I would never reach any time soon. I woke up to weigh myself (about the same time I weighed myself the other day) and noticed I'm back at where I started + another half pound. The advice you guys offered really helps, especially keeping track of what you eat and planning. I'd like to at least keep an intake of 4000 because I feel if I get anything below that, I probably won't see any solid gains. I guess in the end, it really is as simple as was previously mentioned: Calories consumed > Calories burned. You just have to find that sweet spot. Once I get comfortable with this diet, I'll definitely try lifting weights.

That's his new site. His old one was different; nowhere near as commercialized.
I read his book and followed his training plan, and it worked for me.
I think he writes/wrote for Men's Fitness magazine. What are your qualifications in this area?

Trust me, I hated it. Waking up to an alarm twice a night to force feed myself eggwhites and oatmeal.::9
