Anyone got some info on bridgestone's new bt015 ?

Bob also told me Bridgestone is in the process of updating their website.

I had a chat with Bob this morning as well and he told me the same, they are OEM on the Honda but he also said the reports are they are much better than the 14? The 14 is a great tire. I think I'll try a set of 15's. I'm about due for new rubber on my K5 gixxer anyway.
Reports ive read say they are better than the 014s, Pilot Powers and Diablo Corsas.

I met a guy who sets up tire tests and has some 015s that are supposedly 95-97% , I went ahead and bought them.

I dont need them yet but it wont be long.

Neeley here at the forum has a brochure on the 015s, he says that traditionally Bridgestone releases a new tire as an OE at first. He says the 014s will be discontinued in 07' so the 015 will take its place according to his sources.

He read off the brocure to me and DTC was one of the features.

The 014 is not a true DTC tire...so now I am pretty amped about trying these 015s out!

My set ships today.

Neeley called me back up and said that the 015s will NOT replace the 014s however the 014 will be discontinued in 07' and replaced by a street tire based on the BT002 race tires.

The 015s will remain just an OE tire.... also I was wrong on the BT014s..Neeley says they are a dual compound tire according to his info...the website does not point it out.
I am pretty sure we have debated this one here before.
Ive always been thrown off just because youd think they mention this as a selling point, or at least have the DTC logo on the 014 web page.

Anyhow I am sure the BT015 will prove to at least be a slightly
better tire than the 014s.

I would not be surprised if these started showing up on some future Suzuki bikes.

Neeley faxed these over to me..

Ye the new bt002 super street tire is the next big thing from bridgestone. Its to be the newest cutting edge tech,

The 014s will not be manufactured after 07. they will be around of course till stock is depleted.

I still have to say I like the maxis super max tires I have put on. I wish bridgestone would still use the kevlar(like maxis) instead of steel rapped in rubber for the belts. They went cheap.

Yeah youd think theyd designate a new number to the tire Neeley is reffering to.

Oh well, its off a ways, seems at least a year , meanwhile we have tons of great tires to choose from.

Myself, I am sticking with the the BT015s and BT014s ...I might try the Qualifiers as well.

I know a guy with some Dunlop SportmaxGP tires in 190/55 120/70 for $125 a set... 90% tread ...I though about trying them out.  I still might.

Not sure what kind of street mileage these tires would get , anyone know?

I have put 2500+ on them before on the RR....bout 7-800 on the track and 2000 or so twisties and highway.

They would not be the BEST choice for fall/winter since they take longer to heat up on the street....if you put a set on in spring and love to hit the twisties HARD, they have more grip than anything but a slick.

Nice, thanks for the info. 2000 is excellent mileage.

How much of a differences does that extra 5mm lift make? Id hate to give up
much high speed stability.

I suppose its the overall profile not just side height that give these tires the 55mm measurement, no? Are these quite a bit rounder than a standard street tire?

The extra "5" difference....190/55 vs. 190/50 is not MM it is the aspect ratio of the tire. A 190/50 means that the height  of the tire is equal to 50% of the width....so 190 x .50 is 95mm from the rim to the ground 190 x .55 = 104.5mm a difference of 9.5mm.

190/50 is 95mm tall
190/55 is 104.5mm tall

The 50 series is more " U " shaped and the 55 is more of a " V "
being that the 55 series is taller and has the same width, the contact patch is larger providing more grip when leaned over...also turn in is easier because the 50 has to roll over to the edge vs. the 55 which is more of a drop down to the edge because of it being taller.

I don't have the exact # but the taller 55 series will add 2-3 more MPH to your top end....on the track I don't usually get over 150 or 155. I have had them to 170-175 and there isn't any problems with stability.

The height can also have an effect on your gearing, same as if you had a 42 rear sprocket and went to a 41....not a big deal on the street....on the tracks that I've been to there is always at least 1 turn where your gear selection, entry speed, and engine RPM need to be right so you get the best drive out of the turn. The extra grip by far out weighs any worries of a gear change.

For track days and hittin the twisties the 55 is the BEST way to go....this is why you hear people using 180's instead of 190's....it's a 180/55 vs. a 190/50....the 180/55 has a larger contact patch than the 190/50 and it turns in easier.

The stock classes have use DOT tires....they all use 55's....for the others the make slicks in 195/60 and even 195/70.

Thanks for the info BA..as far as me questioning the stability, I was thinking more about having less contact patch for straight line riding and the lift in the back 10mm is quite a bit!!     Id think the lift would make the bike more twitchy and more suceptable to upsetting the front end...or at least encourage the rider to ride improperly after longer rides.

Even with a 50 the Gixxer has pretty agressive seating you really do gotta put some effort into keeping a good form.

I'll probably pick up a set of these just to try out anyways... I wish I lived closer to a track.

They don't seem twitchy at all....at high speeds tires do grow. The 180/55's are standard equipment on a lot of 600's and they handle great and have plenty of top end.

Anything you find in a 190/55 is going to be a GREAT tire....you won't be disappointed. These are Street legal "Race" tires

I've been using 190/55 Pirelli's and Metzler's for 2 years and I love them....for these 2 brands....they are actually the same company, the Pirelli Supercorsa's and Metzler Racetec's....formerly Metzler Rennsports come in different compounds.

In a 120/70 front
Supercorsa's SC1....Super Soft
"            "    SC2....Soft
"            "    SC3....Medium
"            "    SC0  is a extra super soft hard to find and not Z rated

190/55 rear
SC2....Soft
SC3....Medium

Metzler # are
KO
K1...Super soft
K2...Soft
K3...Medium
