Anyone Race against a newer 1K lately?

The new 1k espically the 05-06 have proven to be fast bikes have seen them go mid eights with a good set up and rider and if u pay close attention most grudge bikes that compete with the 14 and the busa are 1k's now i bought a bmw 1000 this year and i hate to say it but it pulls harder than the busa and the 1000 my first run this year on the bmw stock height swb i ran a 9.60 at 141 brock had his running a 8.40 with some work so i truly believe the 1000 cc bikes are faster because of the power band and the weight advantage they have now the new zx 10and it is suppose to be a killer but got recalled for techinical bugs so i accept and enjoy the competion between the bikes cause it makes the factory make improvements each year which in the end we benefit from but the busa is still the king and always will be when it comes to the size of the stroker motors and the options u have to build a fast bike
 
Got a k7 1k & Busa.And I said the EXACT same thing u did."THIS BIKE PULLS HARDER THAN MY BUSA DOES",b4 Busa's motor work was done.Got mine slighty damaged though.When the Busa is done,im goin Head and cam package on the 1k and a lil smack.Should make good power with those mods,and put up sum good numbers and still be 100% streetable.Good luck with it man...:thumbsup:

Had a 2002 Gsxr 1000 and a 2005 1K. Both were retarded fast!
My best friend rides an '03 with a full system and a custom tune. He is faster or the same in just about every roll on we did last summer. My Gen 2 was bone stock, and barely out of break-in, but still, I was hoping the 'busa would have torn him up a little. Oh well, no big deal to me since I can comfortably ride the 'busa and the 1k was just killing me...
 
I have been saying this as well for 2-3 years now.

The 1K bikes are nothing to sneeze at. If you have a bad day driving they will clean your clock.
 
I believe we are kind of close to the maximum power Superbike era.
If the factories deliver more hp/lb., the regulators will step in, so if you want more you have to modify.

As far as I know the Busa holds the 1mile record at 278mph, I would like to see a 1k bike get close to that, in whatever form.

Thanks, I know I was not imagining things then. I think it is great that Suzuki gives us several fast bikes to choose from now. In a few more years there will be SWB GSXR 600s running 9s all day long:thumbsup:...

I wish they could get the Gen II Busa a bit liter! The potential of that platform is awesome. Only if they could find 50-75 pounds to strip off of it at least!
 
i will say this i own a 08 cbr1000rr and i tell u that a first gen busa with equal mods has a tuff time with it my 1k is 9 over stock lowered 1" front 3" rear has a air shifter stock clutch +6 rear sprocket reduced weight to 410lbs emissions deleted full akropovic racing exhaust pc3 custom map stock motor pushed on the dyno when the temp is 102 in the dyno room 165 to the wheel has been 9.45 with a 1.59 60' the stock suspension will not adjust enough for dragracing so it like to wheelie everytime u launch it hard so this yr i bought a penske dragshock so im hopin we will see some 9.20s and low 1.40 60'

Almost ready to start going Busa hunting this season:laugh:........Just kidding. I will but another Busa one day but I want to try a Gen 2 this time. Gonna play with the 1k first though.
