since when do you remap a bike when it's running on the dyno?sounds like a bunch of BS to me.Remap your bike, leave the room and let him run it.After the run check the graphs,Remap again if it is needed.

Terry Kizer (Mr. Turbo) reportedly had a strap snap during a 400hp funnybike pull a few years back. I heard it put a dent in the far wall of the shop...didn't do him much good either.

Lanta, that's so much bullshit from your dealer! If his front strap is in half decent shape it can easily hold the Busa front wheel even if it's a 200+ hp bike. My friend's shop has at least 70 Busa runs on their DJ150 and runs from more powerful drag bikes. No front tires have ever budged nor have any bike threatened to overpower the dyno front strap and tire track to fly off.

Sounds like your dealer has a neglected beater dyno with a worn front strap and is too cheap/stupid to replace it or he just doesn't want you and your Busa there. Maybe time to spend your money at a real store without a paranoid owner.

Jim, the bummer is that I can't find anyone worth a flip! Nobody I've called has anything decent.
Gixxer, they don't even have the dyno in it's own room, it's in the main garage with 100+ bikes and 2 mechs running around, the only time they'll even do an HP run(all they'll do!) is after 5 PM so they don't kill the other mechs and won't even let me in the garage while they pull it. The other dyno shop I used can't get a tach input working, broke 200. I found a Harley shop w/ a 250 but he's broke too expecting parts in Aug.
Does ANYONE know a good dyno in Atlanta? byhalia? JR? ANYONE?
Closest authorized dynojet shop is in Florida, 6-7 hours away.

What a drag...

Tim they said one of the back straps broke and someone got hurt---hey aren't you in Bama? Is there a decent one there?

No rear straps with 160 or so hp... that can be a problem....IF the dyno operator is a lightweight. My Busa will try and hop off with the 140 pound mech. on it while unstrapped in back. Easy solution, either I get on the bike (285) and do the runs or their chief Duc mechanic (290 or so) does. Nice and smooth...no hopping around...and no strap needed in back! :p

All you need is a set of basic Ancra tiedowns and a set of soft ties for the back end. Has that idea crossed your dealer's mind yet? Perhaps you should give him $1.00 to buy a clue!

Jim

Warp I know that's true, the 1st time I went to broken 200 shop lil dude(125?) didn't have the backs tight enuff and it started hopping in 5th on an all gear run tore the CRAP outta my tire. Freaking rubber all over the door to the room. NOT going back there.

Tim?

Normally the only strap I need for a dyno run is the front wheel strap. I use two rear straps to assistance in balancing the bike (after centering the wheel on the drum). These straps normally are not really tight, yes they must be pulled a bit more when the bikes starts the rear wheel skipping (or have someone push down on the tail to get traction).

As far as tuning a PC2 on the dyno, I do it every time I create a map for a PC2 (yes in real time). With the dy250 and brake, you run the bike at each rpm level (500,1000,1.5k, 2k, 2.5k, etc) with different throttle postitions (2%,5%,10%,20%,30%,40%, etc), During this time you enter new fuel values and upload them to the pc2 to obtain the best fuel/air ratio (12.5-13.1).

To try and create a map w/o the use of the dyno is sheer madnes.

I can understand the dyno opperator not want to sit on a time bomb, I did a Yam 1000 that lost a head gasket, nothing like hot water on your legs and feet!

And yes it is very expensive to insure a shop with a dyno.

Gixxer1300R,

Man have you been missing a good thing, adjusting fuel maps underload. When they come out with some REAL software for the Busa, that really remaps the factory EFI computer. Unlike the PCII that just alters the input signals.
Using an eddie current dyno (ala Dynojet 250) with user programmable EFI and real time data aquisition is the future. I wish I had a chance to show ya what you have been missing......

i only use the straps as added safety and balance.it does not spin or hop on roll ons.if you wanna do all gear runs with my heavy *** high inercia drum well thats another story.it does not whip aroud fast like those little drums.

My dealer won't let me tweak my pc2 on his dyno for insurance reasons, needs 2 million more in coverage.
Another friend associated with them told me it's because straps have broken before and folks hurt---that's scary!!! Imagine the strap breaking at redline in 6th...ohmygod.

"scared of dynoroom now"
