Hey guys, I need some sage advice, and I knew this would be the place to get it.

I had an appointment this morning to get one of my welding certifications, and ended up with the rest of the day off and decided to go busa shopping, or actually just test sitting.

Went in and got around to asking the salesman some questions about the 07's and when they were coming out. He had to go back in the back and find a more qualified bullshitter to answer my question, which kinda made me proud that I was asking em such difficult questions.

Anyhow, I end up getting a total of 4 guys coming out to answer the question, and they as a group tell me that the 07's probably won't show up on the Suzuki website until June/July, then they probably won't get any on the showroom floor till Sept at the earliest, and possibly December/January at the latest.

I think that they don't actually care whether I really get what I want, I think they want me to get an 06 "right now."

Also, they priced me the bike at $11,099. What OTD price should I offer them on an 06 model if I decided to go 06?

Any thoughts?

Obviously, they want you to buy an '06. When the new models come out, the value and demand of the '06 will drop. Need to clear the showroom floor. I doubt if we'll see an '07 before the end of the riding season (Oct/Nov). I hope that I'm wrong.

Be patient grasshopper, Wait for the 07 and if you don't like it then the 06's will be dirt cheap.

Thanks guys. What I was hoping for was that they might have a red model in the 07 lineup, as well as some other upgrades that look more attractive than previous models.

I suppose that once the 07's are at least announced on Suzuki's website, I'll know what colors and upgrades available, and if nothing catches my eye, I could go with an 06.

You can also bet that the '07s will be priced a little higher.
+1

You're not going to have any leverage in pricing with the 07' models if they are a "new breed" of Hayabusa. I'm in the same boat but would at least like to see what Suzuki has in store for the 07' (colors, plastics, wheels, etc.). I think I can wait a few months to catch a glimpse of what they will look like.

...and to answer your question... the timing on release of both photographs and units to the floor seems to be about right looking at past years.

With the possiblity of a "new Busa" in the works, photo's may be released earlier to help boost early sales of the '07 or later as they put on the finishing touches.

Almost all of us are antsy to see what Suzuki will do with the 07 model year in order to combat the new supposed king of the hill, the 06 Kawasaki ZX-14. If your primary concern is what color you want rather than having to own the fastest production vehicle on the planet "bragging rights", then I would suggest negotiating a much better deal than what the dealer initially offered to you. Like stated above, $10.5K OTD would be a reasonable offer this far into the 06 model year. Whew - a dream come true would be to see the 07 Busa in the 'Zuk lineup as early as what they told you! But who knows......no one at this point in time, I suspect.

Got mine for 11 OTD total. Not the greatest but I figured I did pretty decent, and the bike...OMG

6-8 months would be a long time to wait for a new bike. Unless you still have something to ride until then. I don't think I could go bikeless for 6-8 days! The 07 Busa might turn out to be a piece of crap and our trusty steeds would go down in history as the true high water mark of the breed. Or it could re-write the whole damn thing again! You just never know till you see what rattles out this fall. Oh and don't forget the GSXR1000 is due for its makeover this fall too!

Thanks for the additional info and feedback guys. Gives me several things to consider.

I had also considered maybe just buying whatever color if I couldn't get red, and at a later date having a custom paint job laid down on it.

And to answer your question bigoltool, yep I'm bikeless right now, and the withdrawls are killin me.

$9800 OTD plus your local tax for a non LE model. If no local dealer will go that low it's well worth the road trip to one that will. I believe a few members here have bought Busas from a place in Ohio that sells them for $9500 + $300 delivery to your door.

Damn I gotta find one, also I don't mind flying somewhere to get it.. as long as it is 9800. All they want to do around here is MSRP 11,0100. plus Taxes 1572. 250. prep Dealer fees 150. Tires and battery sur charge. 50. Title and Reg. 65.==11,1962. unless I do like the last owner of my bike tell tag agency I only paid $6000. see they don't pay taxes..

First post obviously
Been shopping for 2 weeks in Houston area.
Everybody is 11,099 + TTL, + prep.
$12.5k OTD no negotiations.
These bikes are awesome. I like the styling better than any of the others. Decided to get on here to discover if there is a dark side.
Later,
Bill

Buying a bike is like buying a car. Go in with money in your pocket and sit down with the salesperson. Offer a price, hand him the money and tell him to talk to the salesmanager. They'll come back with a higher price, you stay planted with your price, they'll talk to the sales manager again, offer another price; and so on. When you and the dealers' numbers are close, you take the 2 numbers, meet in the middle and seal the deal... 3-hours later

I almost did the Ohio thing... but I paid a few hundred more locally and was happy.

Good luck!!

You need to come up to the midwest where the riding season isn't year round.

I paid around $9100 for my '04 and then after freight + prep + doc fees the total was $9723.  This was right at the start of the riding season in April of '04 so it wasn't like I bought a left over last years model.

Also when you buy, those fees will be included in the price whether they list it on the receipt or not.  Don't be one of those morons who feel all clever and proud of themselves because "they got away without paying the BS fees". YAAAAA!

Whatever OTD price the dealer quotes you, make sure he breaks it down on the receipt.  Doing it that way the actual price of the bike will drop at least $600 and that's $600 you won't have to pay taxes on.  Not a big deal but every little bit helps.

Also if you're buying new, you won't be able to lie to the DMV about what you paid.  You won't pay the taxes at the out of state dealer, but you will pay them at the DMV when you get home.  That's one of the nice things about buying used, the seller is usually willing to make up any price you want.
