Auxiliary lighting for busa

Yes , they're called Cyber-Whites or lights ......can get them at Wal-mart .....have the same ones on my car .

guido,
Do you have a close up?

Here's a head-on view.....................

These are super low profile Pilot brand 35w halogens. Any thing with a higher profile might create clearance problems............

Here's a close up....................

The Pilot kit came from Advance auto. It came with an electronic switch with on/off LED's and a relay with harness. I mounted the switch on the right bar. I mounted the relay under the seat and main power comes from battery. Relay on/off power comes from the "extra" light wire up front. I forget the color. The brackets had to be modified because of the "curve" of the lower cowling ( so that the lights would sit parallel with the road). I would not recommend this on a lowered bike due to limited clearance!

nice work

Someone had mounted some to their lower fairing bolt (the one with support) and angled them accordingly. Looked pretty slick for sure

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and pics.

The image below is exactly what I am looking for. www.motolight.com. The brushed metal option should blend in with the fork bottoms nicely.

They are very pricey at $347. I am going to research their durability first, but I think I gotta have 'em! For the price, I can only hope they are as good a buy as the $999 Beetle Bags.

I am still going to have to work out wiring them into the headlamp so they are automatic. I will post my solution if I find one.

For that price just get an HID high and low beam set up. There is nothing hangin off the bike and it will run with your normal controls. I belive there are 2 group buys going on for them right now and they are cheaper than that.

Yea, I would suggest you go the HID route first

, it's a much cleaner application and I doubt you would need anymore light ! If you do, YOUR DRIVING WAY TOOOOOO FAST on Public roads

. You might also check your electrical loads, because I've seen a lot of bikes kill their batteries with an overload

both of those are nice applications....I think using the reflector mounts would help with "being seen" more ...which is what might be more important than anything else.

+1 on the HID thing....you'll love it....and it makes all other lighting obsolete.

I just wonder at what point our electrical systems are going to give in...I know I have a number of items wired in....and busas aren't known for their generation of extra amps.

Do you have a link for HID conversion? I'd like to investigate.

My desire for auxiliary lighting is two-fold:
<ul>
[*]Recently taking sweepers at speed (not crazy speeding, but "spirited") at night I noticed I was overriding my headlamp because of its projection. I was looking through the curve and the headlamp was lighting up the outside of the curve. Aux. lights mounted to the forks should give me a little more angle - confirmed this with other touring folk.
[*]I also want to be more visible to other traffic. Having lights arranged a bit out of normal bike set-up will attract more attention.
[/list]

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Has anyone attached PIAA style auxiliary lighting to the front end of their Busa? I have a 1999 in mostly original condition. I can't figure out where on the front end they would fit. I don't want to intall them into the fairing. I am thinking they might install using an existing brake caliper bolt or using the bolt holding on the fork reflectors.

Also, how would I install them into the headlamp switch so they are automatic and would I need any mods to my battery/alternator?
Do you teach the Motorcycle class at Glen burnie DMV? I can swear you were the instructor there. I remember your bike very clearly.

~Evan

P.S. since you are so close, I can meet up with you to show you hid the HID setup looks at night. (its the same one in the current group buy)

Several .org members have HID conversions from xenonking.com and are very satisfied. They are offering a special rate to .org member right now.

KosherBenz-

Yeah, that would be me.

I'm now teaching at Carroll and Howard - they're paying a lot more and less red tape.

I am down in Severna Park nearly every weekend. I'd love to see the HID set up. GoogleTalk (IM) at Busapilot@gmail.com and we can set up a time/place.

I occasionally go to the glen burnie McD's hangout on the weekends, but I can venture out there. googleIM sent.
