AWESOME NEW HELMET

The fact that a guy wore this helmet in the Iron Butt Rally is about as good a recommendation of its comfort, quietness, optics and features as you're ever going to get from anyone.

ZLD do you wear yours in warm weather too, or just cold? And what is a Rain City?

BTW I checked with the cops and with an insurance investigator/adjuster. There is no problem wearing this helmet in Canada because it's DOT approved.

Pete: I believe a "Race City" is a brand -- it's a thin clear film you apply to the inside of your shield that will not fog up. Problem is though, you are already looking through 2 layers of plastic, do you want a third?

Since you have a trick breath guard. Maybe you can peel off the inside layer of the shield, therefore only looking through 1 lens, all though 2 will definitely help reduce the fogging -- the inside stays warmer as there is trapped air between the 2 layers.

Better email bombardier and tell them to giddy up and make a street visior as you are going to boost their sales into the motorcycle industry! Better send you a test unit
:)

Opinion for sure DP. I was speaking comparatively too. Compared to my Vemar it gets blown around real bad and is Way heavy too but on it's own it's not really a problem. Neck will get used to the weight and it is definitely fog free (apart from the dark visor). I don't even use the breather and still don't get fogging on the visor.

Definitely looks the dogs bollox. Use the force Luke.

DP... Any information on sizing? I need a very large helmet... I'm currently using an "old" Bell, because it's the only one that I've found that fits. I know it's not good to wear old helmets... But I'm not sure what to do.

Thanks Bulldog...great info. I'll check on the visor's insurance implications immediately and post them for anyone who's interested. The swinging chin guard is as heavily built and well-latched as the BMW cycle helmet IMHO. I got the anthracite colour (bike's black and grey) and love it.

Philo when I get home I'll check the literature that comes with it and answer your question, but I seem to remember that it comes in XXL. It definitely fits bigger than my Shoei T-800. My Shoei is an XL but I take a large (L) SkiDoo modular.

Philo: If the Skidoo Modular helmet doesn't fit, check out HJC's new lid, the CL-12. It goes up to XXXL, it's Snell 95 has a quick release shield (like the Shoei, just a little trickier). It has vacuum vents on the chin bar that suck the stale hot air out of the chin section of the helmet. It's a solid full face but looks great! I have a massage head (yeah I read too much!) and the XXL fits fine, the XXXL is huge!

One of the riders in the Iron Butt Rally used one of these. He reported that it worked great for all weather he encountered.

I've since bought one too. However, in heavy rain, it still tends to fog up so, you may want to use a Rain City with it also.

Another CON is if you use the neck protector in the rain, it tends to wick water up into the helmet. This happened to me on a long ride and it shorted out my headphones I had installed.

I love the sun visor feature.

DP, that helmet got me nuts. I'll drop by next week by a local ski-doo dealer as well and see how is it. Did you see the antracit one as well?

I think what you guys are refering to is called a "Fog City" insert.I`ve always used them in my helmets...They keep the visor from foging up..

Just tossing in my 2 cents...

I have 2 shoei XSP's I could not be happier with. Ive ridden long periods with it, almost 1600mi in 3 days. Ventilation is phenominal and the comfort is superb. They are on the pricey side, but well worth it as far as im concerned.

Defectron the "anthracite" is the color I got.

Gsx1300 thanks for the "Fog City" tip.

BP I think that comparing this sled helmet to conventional lids is apples to oranges. The Skidoo helmet, I think, will prove to be a good cold weather helment, but summer riding may well be best in a lid like yours. We'll see!

ONE NB POINT: If you're going to buy one and use it for cold weather riding or even just for sledding, make sure not to fit it as tight as you would a conventional motorcycle helmet.

You need to leave space for your balaclava. I suggest you wear your balaclava for your fitting.

I screwed up on this point, so I'm trading my L in for an XL today.

If you have a Black 99 Busa check out the (HJC Inferno2 LT12) great color match and light weight also priced at $200. They look real cool with a tinted sheild and Troy Lee stabilizer bar!!! I have 2 one for the gal also!
