Back dated clutch?

Heartbreaker

Has anyone installed a gen 1 or 2 clutch in a gen3? I’ve seen a video where Wilis Racing has one installed but no details on what the clutch stack height is and what spacer is used on the basket etc?

Yes it been done a couple of times. Logan Ring just did it. Willis Racing has flirted with it too.

Also Brocks has a kit to retrofit it......

Any recent information on this clutch modification?. I’d like to get some thing that works better than the factory clutch. Real mushy unpredictable.

Spoke with Brocks. A girl name Avery told me it’s mostly applied for racing, but can be used on the street as well. It’s closer to the older style clutches. Has anyone done any research into shaft diameters could we go back to a generation two clutch?.

Looks to me that a GEN two clutch could be inserted in this motor using standard GEN two installation practices. Input shaft is the same, needle bearings, for the clutch are the same, I think I can pull this off.

Get a Brocks mod kit and go at it.

i *think* the baskets may be different, or installed height is different in the Gen 3? When I looked into it it was still a grey area but the only people having success were putting an entire Gen 2 assembly into a Gen 3 and then modifying spring height? There was a few small hoops to jump through but it all worked out in the end. I have my eyes on the new Hays convertable clutch for when I start to make real power

I'm gonna dig into it and assemble a Gen II clutch on the bench, and then gonna measure it all off against a Gen III, and see exactly what is going on. When I see common parts generation to generation it may not be as different as I think.

Hi. Look into the MTC Gen 2 with air assist.

Hi. Look into the MTC Gen 2 with air assist.
They are on my watch list too. A good friend of mine is building his Gen 3 right now with one of the Hays clutches and he has a 600hp goal and Im trying to see how his turns out.
I know the MTC is more than proven, but at 2K its a hard pill to swallow for a street bike VS Tim's clutch at like $1,100 which has a good following already with the Gen 2 roll racing crowd. Dennis Clanton who is going to tune my turbo build and has been helping me likes boost references clutches too. Im not going to be at that level till next summer after I get my engine built so I thankfully have time to let everyone else figure the bugs out lol

Hi. DME ab.nd Eric at DAS told me to go with the MTS with the air assist with the spiecle cover I think it was over $3000.00. Will my custom turbo put togather kit will be over $18000.00.

The input shaft is longer / sticks out farther. Just back dating to a gen2 / gen1 style wont work in itself, the pressure will cause the pusher to basically interfere with the input shaft. Brocks kit has an aftermarket pressure plate that has the reaction location out farther than the previous generations to accommodate the longer shaft.

As far as I know, an MTC Gen2 clutch will drop in, as it is not quite as "particular" on the location of the pusher. While not the best, an MTC Gen2 can be setup to be used on the street. A slider is also an option, although not really for the street.

Thank you John very very much for saving me a whole bunch of work. Coming from you I know it's straight up. Much thanks.

Also, thank you for giving us an idea what the complications are.
