is their a logical reason why the bar ends need to weigh as much as an anchor? seems like its for very good wear resistance? suzuki should have put that effort into the screw that holds it on as they break easily in a fall. any hidden reason im overlooking?
On my old Kwaka 900r/Ninja, if you took the bar ends/bicycle weights off the handlebars the bike would go into a serious weave/tank slapper at speed (note: this bike didn't have a steering damper back in the 80's.) The weight was there for a reason apparently.
my fzr does not have a steering damper and as long as the front wheel is balanced you wont get the vibrations. well the bike isnt operational yet but ill post something after i take it out.
aye that is correct they are there and are so heavy to cancel out vibrations from the motor your bars are like tuning forks so the weight is used to help keep your hands from going numb

Definitely a vibration control thing....I am amazed at the weight of the Busa's bar ends...had an R6 before and they were half the weight...I think it may be because the Busa is a high speed more refined bike made for highways and longer rides....I put a pair of Pro-Tek aluminum bar ends, very light and look good....no vibration problems yet...and saved probably 1/2-1 lbs
