Battery Life Question

Hello Team....

Got a question I need to post.

I need to know on Busa's...what is the life expectency from a charge? Let me expain. I have the 24v mod on mine. And I know I need to make sure the second batt is charged. But what I would like to know is.. if BOTH batteries are charged and let's say I dont ride for 3 weeks to a month, should my MAIN battery still be on full charge? I have a new gel main battery. My rectifier is putting out within specs (around 14.7) at 5000 rpm. But I find that I haveto charge it more than I should have to. And i am doing this in compairison to my wife's 2009 m109. She rides much less than I do. Her bike sat for like a month in the winter without me cranking it. I kept mine on the charger. When I went to put hers on for a while it ALWAYS read charged time i hooked it up. And even when I crank it after several weeks or a month between rides.. hers cranks right up.

If mine sat that long without charging it would not... or it would be a very weak crank.

What are you guys thoughts? Do yours sit for long periods and start right up without a charge? Do you think it has something to do with the 24v mod? Just curious...???

I have the 24v setup and I haven't had that problem. If you have any accessories on it you may want to check those. It sounds like you have some type of draw on your battery.

No not accessories. I am running HID's though.. but should that matter? I mean the only way I could REALLY test it is to remove my second battery..rewire....charge and let sit to see what happens.. but uhhhhh IT'S RIDING SEASON AGAIN!!!

But still..I was just wondering. I mean if that's the case why do some post on here in the winter leave it on the trickle charger to prolong life? They are thinking it my discharge at some point.

I didn't read your entire post, but NO. A battery will not hold a full charge for 3 to 4 weeks. It may still be in good charge, but full no.

Thanks DO3!

Interesting. I guess I was just weirded out at the fact that the wife's 109 will sit so long and mine didn't....

Get a battery tender and connect the quick disconnect to the battery(s) . Just plug it up if you know it's gonna sit a week or so. What do you have inside that '01
