If you just want to transport your bike in your truck, you don't need the mounting kit. I just set the chock down in the back of my truck, then roll the bike into the chock. I use a canyon dancer just to hold the bike in place, but I don't cinch it down tight enough to even compress the forks. The bike isn't going to move anywhere.
With the mounting kit, you wouldn't have to use any straps on the bike at all, but I probably wouldn't leave my Busa sitting in a moving truck without a strap though. Otherwise, I don't see what you would gain by having the kit. In fact, you could actually screw the chock to a trailer or truck bed without the kit since the mounting holes are allready there.
We had our group buy going on for about two weeks, but once the chocks showed up a week later, there were a lot of people upset that they didn't jump on the deal. It's well worth the money.
Another great use for this chock, is for those who are squimish about putting your bike on a rear stand. Once you roll the front wheel into the chock, you can easily prop up the rear without worrying that your bike is going to fall over on you. In fact, I use the chock when I park my Busa in the garage. I ride the bike right into the chock when I come home, so I don't need to use the sidestand at all. When I want to ride, I get on the bike and push it backwards out of the chock. It is virtually impossible for the bike to fall over once you roll it into the chock, even if you tried to push it over.
