When to the beach in Belmar, NJ.
Nice beach, clean, nice looking people ETC.
I drive there every weekend with my wife. She love it.
So we do one day at the beach and the other days we ride.
Let's get straight to the point: We bring a couple of friends before getting we buy 2 big bottle of Mikes lemonade (alchoolic beverage). We buy our beach pass at 6 dollar a pop. Get in and give our ticket to the beach entrance check point with our bottle in our hand. We lay down and 2 beach officers come up to us and ask for our id. I tought they were checking if we had the drinking age. He finally tell us that there is a no tolerance of alchool on the beach. WTF?
The beach cop asks us to open our cooler to see what was in it. Bottled water and sandwiches. He tells is buddy: what do we do?, they don’t have any more. He mentions that the fine for drinking on the beach was $280. Ouch! So he says he is only going to write us a ticket for have glass container on the beach that he didn’t know the fine. I tell the cop that the only sign we see getting to the beach was NO DOGS, NO ROLLER BLADEs AND NO BYCICLE on the boardwalk. He says they have a board with 8.5x11 with beach rules on it. I know it's small but the city states it’s sufficient. And I keep on complaining that the person at the check point had to see us going in with the bottles and didn’t say a fuggin’ word. It’s a conspiracy to make money. I said she is the one who deserve the ticket. If I knew I was doing wrong, I would have let the bottle on my beach towel next to me. I know ignorance is not a defense but you can’t hide the rules. Anyway the cop told me that if I want he can’t give me the alcohol fine. So I shut up.
I understand there rules. Makes sense. You don't want broken glass on the beach and people cutting their feet. But write those rules clearly. And for the alchool. We were not disturbing the peace. He should have use his judgement. I bottle per couple. He could have told us to dump it. Give us a warning and a copy of the beach rules.
I called the city of Belmar and the fine for was 150 for the glass container. That simply pisses me off. I won't plead NOT GUILTY cuz it's going to cost me more money to contest than to pay the fine. I’m writing a letter to the Mayor. I am pretty sure they won’t give a crap cuz I only spend a $1000/summer over there but they won’t see it anymore. Going to another beach.
FUG BELMAR!
Next time I am bringing alchool in a different container! How's that!
